Ate here twice in 4 days if that's any indication of our opinion. I imagine in a sense this concept was possibly harder to execute than a brand new haute cuisine concept, because if you look just at the menu, you will think it is standard Mediterranean fare, and in a sense, it is. It's just executed, plated and served perfectly. It was recommended to us two different ways; once by customers of mine who reside in the area and independently by the staff of All-Movie Hotel, who told me wife that a celebrity who stays there enjoys it. When we had dinner, we did the $40 per person experience which they call Lebanese Style, which is 6 mezze and a variety of shish. The only thing on there I would not rush to eat again was the chicken but there was nothing wrong with it just nothing stood out. Our favorite was the Shish Kaftka, among the mezze we loved all 6 but the baba ghannouj (their spelling), falafel, and hummus were my favorites. I did find it odd that mushrooms and potatoes are served before the meal rather than with it but hey, I ain't complaining. The garlic whatever you dip all this in is beyond amazing and could probably anchor it's own restaurant. The day we went for lunch we met the owner and he very kindly sent the mezza platter to our table before we even ordered, which was great for my wife since I was outside on the phone for the first 30 minutes we were there and also great because we were going to order it anyway, and she had the red snapper and I had the lamb shank. I like to try lamb shank at any Greek or med restaurant where I might eat again, in a sense it's my personal benchmark. (I do the same thing with chicken parm at Italian places). I was surprised but not at all disappointed, the dish was all about ingredients and presentation and was not heavily spiced like I expected. I highly regret cutting up the single large potato, to me it detracted, the other vegetables were delicious and the meat was perfect if, like myself, you like that sort of thing. I think the owner would have preferred that I ordered the lamb chops and next time, I will either do that or get the Lebanese Supreme if I can convince at least 3 other people to eat with me. My wife's fish was amazing also, generously sauced but in a creative way that allows the diner to select how much they take with each bite and served over really delicious rice. As to service, on the first night we got the last table available which happened to be on the patio. No one laughed to my face about wanting to buy a bottle of wine they only sold by the glass or about wanting it served on ice. The table across from us were former employees just back from college who gave us great insight into the history of the restaurant and the menu. They didn't get great service but we did despite the fact that the place was slammed. On Monday at lunch time it was much more sedate and we had a chance to converse with the waitress who happens to be from right around where we live. The service was even better. She told us that she has been there three years and she is the newest server, most have been there 7 or 8 years. As I am sure I have already made abundantly clear, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking either excellent Mediterranean cuisine or an upscale but relaxed dining experience in...
Read moreI wanted to love this restaurant based on the reviews, which I read thoroughly. I went with high hopes, only to be let down. The wait staff was hospitable upon entering. When we were seated, we were overrun with flies, we were constantly swatting flies during our meal. Our server (Jake) lacked personality and acted as if he hated his job. I can't figure out, why over the course of our short meal, he visited the restroom 7, yes SEVEN times. I'm hoping he wasn't sick. He only came to check on us 2 times. He did ask if we needed a box for our leftovers, but failed to ask if we wanted dessert, which we did. Employees were gathered around the podium at the front door, and obviously an employee who wasn't on the clock came in. It was like a family reunion, they were loud to say the least. They were loud enough to know that by the time the employee (that wasn't on the clock), we knew it was going to be her birthday, as well as another employee was heading to Europe. Some could say, "Well, you were just being nosy." No, they were just that loud. Moving on, I would also like to know, is there a silverware station in the restroom? If not, I would love to know why there was an employee walking out of the restroom with a basket of to-go silverware? The food was ok..... I would love to have tried this restaurant out one more time, however, given the wait staff, the flies, and an employee coming out of the restroom with silverware, I think we'll pass. I'm hoping based on previous reviews, this was just an off night. The food was ok, but the overall...
Read moreI tried this place out for the very first time with a group of my foodie friends. I was born and raised in Europe and know good quality authentic Middle Eastern food. I drove over an hour from Sandy Springs because my friend said this restaurant was highly recommended. What a disappointment! The Lentil soup lacked flavor, and the broth was too watery with rice in it. I'm used to Lentil soup being thicker with the taste of lentils. The falafel was hard as a rock and dry. How do you get falafel wrong? The waitress took them back and gave me some "fresh" ones, and they were just as hard! I had a taste for some good Chicken Schwarma, and it came out looking like they just cut up some chicken breast fajita style with some veggies and lacked true Middle Eastern flavor. It had a weird vinegary taste sitting on top of a bed of old lettuce and two pieces of carrots and zucchini. I was honestly disgusted and didn't enjoy my meal. The only thing that was good was the fries. To top it off, I ordered the cheesecake baklava to go, and when I opened it up at home, it was a small slice of stale tasting cake with a rotten strawberry as garnishment on the side. You can't make this crap up! What a waste of time, gas money, and a so-called fine dining experience. The service was good, but the food that I ordered sucked! I won't be back. I have way better delicious tasting Middle Eastern restaurants on my side of town! ...
