Had a late lunch with my son yesterday at the Culver's Restaurant, 4400 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola. We arrived for a 1:30 lunch on a Saturday. Our order was taken quickly and efficiently by friendly staff. I found that the restaurant was very clean. No debris on floors, table and booth seats and the soft drink and condiment/napkin area were very clean. Our food arrived hot. My son had a double butter burger and I had a fish sandwich. We both had fries with our meal and shared a medium poriton of cheese curds. We were both satisfied with the the food quality and temperature of the food. I found that the fish sandwich had a large portion of lightly breaded cod on a "hogie bun," along with lettuce and a sauce. I found the portion to be just right - not too much, not too little. The fries were hot and not overly salted. No additional sauce was needed. They were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I had cheese curds before at another Culver's location and ib two other occasions at this locaiton and the consistency and quality have been the same each time. They are very good. I noted that the restaurant has added clear plexiglas dividers between booths which were probably a result of the Covid pandemic. The dividers allowed light to pass through but also provided another layer of privacy between booths which I thought was a nice change in a fast food restaurant. Although I did not have ice cream during this visit, I have had the ice cream served at Culver's. Their ice cream is excellent and highly recommended. During high school I worked at a small but widely known custard ice cream restaurant where I was exposed to quality custard ice cream. Culver's rivals that quality. Because of the time of day parking was easy to find and the entrance had handicap pads which could be pushed to open the doors. I did nto avail myself of the restroom while there so I cannot attest to their cleanliness. I recommend this resturant. I live in Milton, Florida where a Culver's is close to completion. Both the wife and I are looking forward to frequenting it...
Read moreMy wife and I were on our way to the VA hospital in Pensacola when we spotted a Culvers. I had read about Culver’s and how much folks raves about their butter burgers and cheese curds. This combined with the fact that there is going to be a Culver’s location in Mobile soon helped to peak our interests so we decided we would try them out for lunch. When we were done with our appointment, we made a B line for the nearest Culver’s as we were hungry and looking forward to trying something new. My wife and I both ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with crinkle cut fries as well as the cheese curds, took our number and found a seat. Our food arrived in a timely fashion and without issue. Our burgers were delicious though I have to admit I expected more of the butter flavor and juiciness I had read about. The toppings were obviously fresh which was nice considering that Culver’s is fast food. The beef patty was delicious but was a little thinner than I like. Overall, I would say that Culver’s burgers are delicious just don’t expect something over the top. I would definitely place Culver’s burgers over McD’s, BK or Wendy’s, none of which I frequent anymore. The crinkle cut fries were hot with the right amount of crunch and salt. Finally, the cheese curds were good. Culver’s deep fries their cheese curds which is fine but they didn’t squeak when bitten into so it was just like eating Italian style cheese sticks. Not bad per se just not what I expected and if I was being honest, kinda takes away one of the aspects which make cheese curds unique. I also had a root beer float and it was very good and one of the things that helps to make Culver’s unique. Overall, I would say Culver’s was a positive experience and I will return. My wife commented that she still prefers Five Guys to Culver’s but I’m not sure I can second that opinion. I recommend Culver’s especially considering the...
Read moreSo, first time going to culvers, i had the sourdough melt meal, medium.
Ill start with what i had first, sweet tea, gotta be honest here, it was just flavored water, it wasnt very good, it wasnt bad per se, just not good.
I then had the fries, which they give a large amount, and quite honestly, im very satisfied with these, they are good, salted perfectly, all and all just good fries.
Now here comes the real fun, the sourdough melt. It was delicious, the beef was high quality and cooked throughly and perfectly, and the onions and cheese were perfect too. The size however left something to be desired (or maybe i was just really really hungry) it was delicious, and filling to a certain extent, which is good.....
...until you realize the price. Culvers is pretty expensive, this meal in and of itself was around 9 dollars, with tax. For this meal, a culvers deluxe meal, and a mushroom butterburger (not a meal), was 26 bucks. I dont think it was worth the 26 bucks, personally, and i dont think ill be going there any time soon, mainly because of this. However, if you have money to spare, i think it will be a good place to go.
Another thing, the service is very respectful, and responsible, but VERY slow, on a thursday night, i had to wait nearly 15 minutes to even say my order, along with about 10 minutes to get my order. (Through the drive-thru)
Would i reccomend culvers? On rare occasions, definetly go! But i wouldnt go there multiple times a week, or even multiple...
