I called Phil and asked about his ribs on voicemail - he called me back and we talked. We worked something out and I drove by for pickup, zero effort on my part. Phil met me at the front door with my order immediately. Got home to an incredibly tender and flavorful batch of ribs (zesty style). My wife couldn’t help but ask for some (there was a lot) and even she, who really doesn’t care for ribs, was over the moon about how tender and flavorful they are.
I wish I had asked about the sides (I didn’t) but based on the BBQ ribs I can tell you that this is truly genuine southern barbecue and I’ll go back...
Read moreIt really wasn't good. I love hole in the wall kind of places but it just wasn't great. The cook there was very nice but after I put in my order I only heard a bunch of items being microwaved. I didn't even smell any food until the things were heated up. The cabbage was wilted or some weird texture, the potato salad was bland and the ribs were overly done and not much of a smoky flavor. I wanted to like it. Read moreThis is the definition of a "hole in the wall." Very unassuming building, a locked security door that had to be unlocked before I could come in, and an odd interior for a restaurant. What I ended up with was one of the best porkchop dinners I have ever had. The sides of greens and mac and cheese were also made perfectly. Of everything that was so good, this man has sweet tea down to a science. I will be going back for lunch as often as I can, and will bring a 5 gallon bucket I hope I can pay him enough to fill full...
