I ordered online for curbside pickup - even put in my vehicle information as requested. The online ordering system didn't allow for me to request no garnish, so I called and waited on an 8 min. hold (plus one hang-up) to let them know.
25 minutes later, I arrived at the restaurant and called the number posted on the curbside sign (the same number I called earlier) and pressed 7 for curbside pickup. The call was directed to voice mail. Tried calling 5 more times. Every time, I got voicemail. During this time, I saw the patron parked in the curbside space next to me arrive back at his vehicle with his order in hand - obviously they didn't answer the phone for him either.
After trying for several minutes, I entered the restaurant - something I had NOT planned on doing since I'm immune compromised. And, I waited in line to request my order. When they finally got to me, they told me they could only find one of two bags - they had lost the second half of my order. I requested at that time that they deliver it to my car when they found it - informing them that their phone was not working for the curbside pickup - and they refused.
When they found the second bag, I checked the order and found that the cheese and sour cream were missing from one of the burritos. They gave me sides of sour cream to make up for it, but insisted the burrito had cheese inside. Later found out it did not. While I was inside, I passed the woman who pulled up next to me in the other curbside space, they obviously didn't answer for her either.
While the food here is tasty, if you are COVID-19 conscious this is not the place for you. Their curbside pickup is obviously unreliable. The workers do NOT wear masks either.
In short, this restaurant's lackadaisical attitude towards curbside pickup is completely unprofessional. Don't advertise it - or take orders patrons pay for ahead of time with curbside promised to them - if you don't plan...
Read moreI have eaten at the original Carolina's on Mohave since I was a kid, and this is the 1st time I have tried another location... I will be sticking with the original location. Originally ordered a breafast burrito (potato, bacon, egg, n cheese), and I was disappointed. After cutting it in half, I noticed a lot of tortilla. Unfortunately, it was lacking bacon, and the cheese was NOT melted. All in all, it could have used more filler. I brought it to the counter and the nice lady was VERY understanding and immediately requested it to be remade. It was at this moment that I realized they offered the full menu all day. I immediately changed my order to the #1 (enchilada n taco w rice n beans) and offered to pay the difference. She was unable to locate the manager, so she did an even exchange, which I was not expecting but was appreciative. Let me tell you this enchilada was DELICIOSO!!! Mind you, this is meerly a cheese enchilada with no onions, but the sauce was so flavorful. I hurt my heart, but it is much better than the original location. The taco broke in half as soon as I picked it up. All I can say is it was meaty but could have used more flavor. I ate half and ended up gutting it and dipped the shell in my beans. I would have liked the beans to be at the very least sprinkled with melted cheese, but the cheese was to the side like a garnish and not melted. Overall, I personally will not return, but I am loyal and will return to the cental Phoenix/Mohave location... can you share your enchilada sauce recipe with them? lol. The food was delivered to my table in just a few minutes, maybe why the cheese wasn't melted, lol. The lobby was clean and well stocked with condiments, etc. If you have never tried the Original Carolina's on 12th St and Mohave in Cental Phoenix, then I would highly recommend it. Read moreUPDATE SEPT 14 2024 Took a chance since my husband want this for dinner. Order was for pickup. Got home and started eating my 3 $3.75 tacos. In the middle of my second beef taco was a hair. A human hair which was not mine. That is the final straw for me. I will never eat there again.
We have been going there for years and there was always a great consistency of customer service and great food. Since the past year however it is steadily gotten worse. Food is still decent for the most part but it isn't worth putting up with poor customer service. Tacos are never done; the middle part of the shell is still raw and the ends crumble into a mess. About a teaspoon full meat, cheese and lettuce is skimpy for the price. The last three times the orders have been wrong. Evidently got someone else's chicken burro, or bean burro but not the machaca beef burro. Certainly hope they enjoyed it. Their website is not user friendly if you want any variation in a burro; if you want Pico de guillo in the burro, for instance. Sure you can pay for a side of it, but then having to unwrap a messy burro to add it and rewrap it defeats the purpose. Since we usually pickup and bring home, it is very disappointing to not get what you ordered. Last but not least, if you call to place your order for pickup, you are put on hold for an eternity while a recording encourages to use their online website ' if you are tired of waiting '. After trying twice and being put on hold for over 15 minutes, twice, I gave up. If you can't get an order right or even bother to take my order, you obviously don't need...
