We went to this Steak n Shake Sunday evening around 6:30 admittedly the restaurant was short staffed there were two servers for the restaurant on duty and the kitchen also seemed short staffed. Understandably it took a while (about 15 minutes) for the servers to clear a table for 8 people. The table was available but was not bused. The servers just moved the dirty dishes to another table and left many tables unbused until customers had to be seated at these tables. Which I can understand when they were getting other people's orders but the tables next to me stayed uncleaned with a large stack of dishes and cups the entire time I was having dinner. Service was very slow which we understood. What I didn't appreciate was the lack of service provided by our server. The server took our order but seemed to be checked out in her interaction with us. Another server brought to us our order and never asked us if we needed anything more. I was very dissatisfied with the size of the Chili 5 way that I ordered I was also very unhappy at the appearance of my order it looked like it sat around for a while waiting for the other food to be made. The server that brought us the food did explain to me that it was prepared the correct way and offered to remake it to my liking. I did not ask for the food to be remade because I didn't want to waste food. What was the most egregious mistake was that neither server asked whether we wanted shakes either when the food was brought over, when I complained about my food, or even after that. Apparently when our dinner was brought over the server just dropped the bill on my table without telling me. I was ready to order at least 5 milkshakes to finish the meal. But the poor service made me decide to go to Sonic down the street for our milkshake and some more food. We often spend 60 to 70$ on food while we are at Steak n Shake we ended up spending around 35$ and an adequate tip. We would have been happy to spend more money had either server asked us if we wanted shakes. We had no issues with the wait. Given that we often go to this Steak n' Shake after going to Cedar Point for dinner and we are planning on going at least two more times in the next month. I am likely opting for Sonic instead of this Steak n' Shake, despite my preference for sit down...
Read moreDear Google people, Can the be less than one star rating? Bc if anyone deserves it, it's this restaurant.
I have given this place 3 opportunities to change my mind and everytime it's the same. It's not the serving staff...its the kitchens.
Either they are under-staffed or they need to be retrained or they need better time management.
I am a seasoned bartender. I have worked a small corner bar, a club, and a big venue (largest tent in Daytona 500). I know how hard it is to turn the orders quickly when u have only 2 hands and 10 orders waiting. It's called time management and organization. The orders wont turn immediately but they will be in the order received and wont take forever.
As it was the last times, it took them 2 and a half hours to get my order out. I made it simple too, my family and I ordered 4 of the same burgers and fries. I watched as I sat there 3 empty tables but the people.who were sat after us got their food before we did. I cant call racism...I'm Hispanic but the wait staff is mostly African Americans. So no, not racism.
Like I said....poor time management and a need to retrain staff or hire more...could also be poor scheduling...it was during high traffic time at 3 PM. But we left at 6 after scarfing down cold fries and burgers. Are they making them one at a time?
I had friends that worked in stake and shake before...one complained he was always alone in the kitchen! But that restaurant never had a late order when he was there. Hes a regional manager now and loves his job. I told him about it and since he is in a different state he cant do anything about it, but he said he would visit the store since cedar point is in his list of places to visit with his family.
I hope they get their life together...the chain has a big name...known for its food, shakes and service...this place is just a let...
Read moreWe decided to give this restaurant one last chance because Steak N Shake food is actually really good, but this location's management and service remains horrendous. Upon arrival, we encountered a fairly dirty restaurant, and I quickly could see the visit was not going to go well. The waitress was short with us from the get go, and once our milkshakes arrived, mine was wrong and we had still not received any napkins or silverware, despite having two small children with us. Then, we notice other tables filling and those groups getting their food, yet I hadn't even received a salad yet. After about four tables received food before ours, I flagged down our waitress - who at this point hadn't spoke to us since bringing our milkshakes - who said she would see what was going on. Another several minutes went by, so I went to find a manager. At the same time, the waitress came to me and explained that "the system went down and they lost our order," yet somehow we still had our milkshakes. That excuse doesn't quite add up. Not to mention that she completely forgot about us because she walked past our tables numerous times, including to bring food to the table behind us and the table next to us, both of which were seated after us. Once we figured out the issue, the waitress then managed to bring us an incorrect order, and once we received all the necessary food, only once over the next 20 minutes did she revisit our table. When she did, she very rudely asked, "Is everything ok now?" The manager gave us a complimentary meal, but that's not enough to bring me back, as she never bothered to check back up on us either or offered any additional apologies. As someone who works in a service-based position, I cannot even imagine of handling a similar situation in...
