It is truly a shame what has happened to Barryâs over the last few months:
A store that used to be clean, efficient, well stocked and friendly is now CONSISTENTLY dirty, surly, disorderly and out of go-to items. I say consistently because I have had this experience at least a half dozen times, hoping each time that the problems were a fluke and management has finally stepped in to return this store to itâs former self.
There is NO management present and the store is staffed by mostly young kids who have ZERO initiative, know-how, work ethic or interest in customer service or the brand reputation of a Toledo icon.
I am so sorry to watch this happen and find it disingenuous to blame everything on post pandemic staffing levels. This is a senior management issue and I am amazed they are letting this happen.
It is now common place to wait 30-40 minutes in a line stretching to the door for a bagel. The line would be much longer but customers frequently lose patience and walk out. The workers do only one thing at a time and work at an excruciatingly slow pace. The tables are dirty and look behind the counter at your own risk: it is filthy. I often notice customers waiting extended periods of time to be noticed to pick up their on line orders only to be told they arenât ready yet or theyâre out of something they ordered. Frequently workers canât figure out how to work the cash register.
Incidentally, I stopped into the Sylvania store to possibly bump into a manager to whom I could report the many issues in Perrysburg. I arrived second in line, the man in front of me had not yet been waited on. There were four (4) workers present who summarily ignored us for an unreasonable, unacceptable period of time until an (ahem), assertive woman got in line behind me. She was having none of being ignored and YELLED down the entire length of the counter that we needed to be waited on. Two of the four replied that they were âbusy working on online ordersâ and would be down when they were done. The woman spoke for all of us when she yelled again, âDo you mean youâre ignoring customers in line IN THE STORE while you work on online stuff?â Staff reluctantly sauntered down and took our orders. I surmised there was no sense in attempting to approach a senior manager when the Sylvania store has also slipped way back in customer service as well.
Also incidentally, the Maumee store continues to run like a top.
I am sure Barry is spinning in...
Read moreThe bagels are amazing! BUT......the older, short haired woman... isn't. She is so rude and lacks customer service. She never greets anyone or even acknowledges you. We stood in line for a couple of minutes, basically ignored while the 2 women helped a delivery person from the back door (provided him with a bagel and a drink) while we stood there, no "hello", " we'll be right with you", "good morning" that set the tone for me. I despise being ignored ....neither women said NOTHING!......a majority of the time that we go, our order is wrong and it's usually the rude woman. I think this will be our last visit, since yet again, she messed up our order and her apology was lacking, she offered to correct her mistake....but after being ignored and then the mistake... I was so annoyed by her, I just wanted to leave. Our order consisted of 3 bagels.....I didn't ask her to make anything out of the ordinary. I don't understand why she is so unfriendly..... Customer service is EVERYTHING! Go to the Maumee store, they are...
Read moreIâve been going to Barryâs since the early 80âs. The food is typically solid and the service is great. Except this Perrysburg store. Itâs consistently dirty and the staff awful. They really need to have some of the people from the Maumee store come over and revamp the procedures here. They even make their food different than other stores. Today I walked in to a basically empty location. The girl behind the counter wouldnât even acknowledge me. No hello. No someone will be right with you. She was basically refilling bins with ingredients. She kept yelling in the back for someone to come to the front. After about two minutes, someone finally came up and said, âwhat do you need?â, I placed my order and he made it wrong. When I asked if I could get the cheese I ordered on it, he seemed annoyed. This isnât a huge deal, but it happens all the time at this store. Senior management needs to get into this location and do some reprogramming. This specific store damages the...
