So I ordered takeout today from Lucky's in Petoskey. The manager took my order. My co-worker wanted the sampler platter and I wanted Chicken Marsala. The menu lists Chicken Marsala served with Fettuccine Alfredo. I told her I would like the Chicken Marsala. She said, "Would you like soup or salad?", I said salad with Ranch. She said,"what other side would you like?", I said, another side??? I don't know what you have I guess, I didn't know it came with another side. I settled on green beans. It was 11:05am and I asked if it could be ready by 11:40am and was told "heavens yes". My mom picked up for me and delivered it to me at work. It wasn't ready until 11:50am so she was later than expected. I look at the receipt and see I was charged an extra $1.99 for salad. I didn't want the salad, I just ordered it because it came with it, or so I thought by the way it was presented to me when I placed the order and was asked "soup or salad". There were no green beans and no pasta. My mom took it back to the restaurant where they said right away, "we forgot the beans". My mom explained to the same manager, that I didn't get the pasta either and she said it doesn't come with it. My mom then told her it says it on the menu and the manager said she realizes that but you can get any side you want (hence the side of green beans). While they were attempting to fix the order, my mom said she wanted to make sure it was accurate because she knows my coworkers and I order take out often and if it's good, lots of us will be frequent customers for lunch. The manager made a comment about takeout orders being hard (and there were only 3 tables in the place) and ultimately made a comment about there being "no gratuity" when she paid the first time!!! Are you kidding me? The manager took the order, cashed it out and she, a non tipped employee, wants a tip? Besides the fact that gratuity is 100% optional AND based on service! I was a server for most of my life, I know how it works! By the time I got my correct order, the chicken was cold and flavorless, the noodles were hot. I gave away the beans and salad because I never really wanted them in the first place! The service in the Petoskey location has never been as good as the Lucky's in Gaylord but their food is typically good. This time none of it makes me want to go back. They ended up giving my mom a piece of cheesecake to apparently make up for the mess and that appeared to be a home made dessert complete with chunks of cream cheese and a crumbly graham cracker crust. Was not a restaurant quality dessert for sure. I could understand in this whole thing, forgetting the beans for example, or possibly even the confusion about the pasta but there is no excuse for remarks about no gratuity and better still, there was no apology throughout the whole thing. As for the "no gratuity", my mom is 82 years old, she didn't tip. Typically I do tip on take out, I didn't think to ask her to. I never imagined she would be reprimanded for it. Unbelievable! I don't think...
Read moreWe were so excited to visit this particular establishment. We were told it was the best place in town, boy were they wrong. From the time that we walked in, with a snooty hostess at the front rolling her eyes about seating a 2 top, to the waitress covered from head to toe in food residue. Just bad experience overall. I ordered the FEATURE 16 oz. New York Strip with grilled shrimp. She had not a clue as to what I was talking about, I then showed her the board as soon as you walk in with the only feature written on it.... What I was given was a Ribeye, with no shrimp. I have worked for steak houses my entire adult life, it was 100% a Ribeye. I asked the server what she had me written down for she said "The feature " I the replied "okay, I believe what this is, is a ribeye and I dont have any shrimp on my plate". She grabbed the steak and yelled in the kitchen (we could hear her from the dining room) "BAD RIBEYE" then preceded to come back out with the SAME ribeye, and put it down in front of me. I then asked where my New York strip was, this looks like the same steak. She said "I didn't feel like arguing with the manager today, and this is what the manager told me to give you" I then told her I was not eating this, and that I needed a new york strip and to go ahead and put it in a box, because we were ready to go at this point. She then brings out the SAME EXACT STEAK in a box. Told me that they can either give me a twenty percent discount or a free dessert because her manager left and went to the store. Being as that I am a server, I ended up paying and taking the twenty percent off, but boy did I want to just walk out of there with No bill, no tip... I'm better than that. So of course, we paid our bill and tipped our waitress, but I do not recommend that restaurant to anyone!...
Read moreI'm quite confused about my prime rib. It was cooked as if it were any other med rare steak (cooked on the outside). It was like my entire slice was put into the oven or a pot of simmering au jus, so it was grey and when sliced the very inside center was rare. I've never in my life seen a piece of prime rib cooked like this. In addition, the butter from my lobster tail spilled over so it was floating in buttery au jus. It really looked gross and didn't taste very good at all. The salad was good, quite large with a variety of lettuce and what not but it barely had any dressing on it at all. I mean, it literally was enough to cover two cucumber slices. The asparagus was too undercooked IMO. Maybe its supposed to be very very crunchy. My daughters Alfredo was delicious but (although the issue was rectified) I was surprised that they served her (11 yrs old) a $17.00 adult portion. She was even pointing at the Alfredo from the childs section. In their defense it does say 10 and under which we didn't see. But they never asked in the first place. And I never though of looking at the age requirement because we eat out a LOT (2-3 times a week) and never ever are asked. Or even give it a thought. IDK, maybe because she just turned 11 and it never entered our minds. IDK what child could even eat HALF of that. They did adjust the bill but def. made sure we knew from now on it was for 10 and under. We are not trying to pinch pennies or be cheap whatsoever, but not looking to way over order and throw it away either. Pretty disappointed because we thought we had another restaurant to add to our loop. I'd still have gone but ordered something different next time but considering she would have to order an adult portion which would mostly get thrown in the trash, we wont...
