Gennaro's Famous Pizza — Restaurant in Philadelphia

The owner (foreigner) got nasty & irate to me (a grown middle aged multi-EthnicAfroAmerican woman) & exclaimmed for me to never come there again because THEY got the order wrong-- making my orders in hoagie style (includes lettuce /tomatoes)...when I went back & brought the discrepancy to their attention. I was very nice & polite about it. I asked for & confirmed "2 cheese steaks" & the cashier lady & I repeated exactly what I asked for on them, I nor she never said anything about lettuce & tomatos!!! Every time I've ordered there I've always said "2 (or 1) cheesesteak hoagies", told her exactly what I wanted on them & never got them back with lettuce/tomato on them! 3 times we confirmed what I asked for, we repeated the order and never said anything about lettuce /tomatoes!!! I know what I said. And again- even if the Word "hoagie" was stated, why did she not confirm the addition of lettuce/tomatoes when we repeated the condiments & onions 3 times?! I was exact of the descriptions. The roll is what makes it a "cheesesteak hoagie" not just the produce. The cashier who put in the order never mentioned lettuce/tomato when giving me feedback, so why would you put extra stuff on my cheesesteak hoagies!?! And I gave them a $3.tip!! Get this- when I asked the difference in the price, owner said $1., I then asked what I could get to make it up, the owner stayed upset then said "her I'll give u 5.." and slammed $5. on counter & told me not to come back to his store. All he did was return my tip, hastily had the guy remake the other sandwich. I let him know there are other cheesesteak places I can go to. Gennaro's Famous, Germantown 19144 is a poorly run restaurant. I ordered a salad for delivery and EXPRESSLY asked for EXTRA kalamata olives. I was so upset when I opened my order and found only ONE OLIVE! When I called to alert them of their folly the girl on the phone told me I didn't order extra olives because she would have charged me extra. I was like, huh?? Ok, so I just felt like calling up talking about random olives? So, let's just say I didn't ask for extra. Your menu says that salads come with olives!! So, why just the one olive on mine? I could have just disagreed with their idea of "extra" IF I HAD MORE THAN ONE OLIVE!!!

That was not enough. I called these jokers once again a few weeks later. I had their brand new menu with their brand new inflated prices. Based on the menu I called to order a 10 buffalo wing platter. Their own menu defined a platter as coming with french fries, coleslaw, lettuce, tomato and onion--you know--a side salad of sorts. I call to place the order and remind the same shiftless girl from before about what their menu says comes with the "platter". She put me on hold to ask the owner and came back and said, platter comes with bleu cheese, celery and french fries. I reminded her again what the menu said. I took a chance and ordered the shrimp Alfredo pizza not knowing how it would turn out and people, I am so happy I did!! It is so freakin good!’ Well seasoned and they are not stingy with the shrimp!! Their shrimp Alfredo pizza is better than Olive Garden, no exaggeration it is good!! I have ordered it 3xs in a row already and again today only I ordered it with the pasta this time n/c I am trying to cut back on eating so much bread but it is truly tasty!! Delivery is on average 30-45 mins you’ll get the call from the driver that’s waiting outside with your food. Drivers don’t expect tips, I found that odd they just hand your food over and walk away but I always stop them and tip $5 anyway. One driver didn’t have enough change so he told me I owed him $1 and left. I made sure I ordered again and tipped him $6 so he could have his $1 back that I owed. I always order a plain pizza light done for my kid and specify that she has feeding difficulties so it need to be soft for her and they make it perfect for her. I have no complaints this place is a gem in Germantown. Wish they opened a location close to my home so I can order during the wk instead of just the wkds when I am at work.
