They say greatness is not just the ability to be at your best but more importantly the ability to attract greatness and curate a symphony which ultimately allows you to shine brighter than you ever could on your own. Ok…I am “they” and I just made that up. But it describes Herman’s in a nutshell my but also in my dialect. Listen…
This place is the Dr. Dre of cafe production. The coffee leads and dominates the sonic canvas with its strong deep velvety vocal vibes but man!!! You’ve got chocolates on piano…hot sauces on the horns…pastries on electric guitar…beautifully boutique beverages on bass and delightful delectable snacks on drums. With the hip staff conducting…It’s a banger. I swear my eyes change in hue after I sip the their house roast (see pic). Those donuts by Okie Dokie Donuts that are discretely tucked in the pastry case once made me pull over at the light after leaving and walk back for another. Hazard lights were a blinkin…because to me…this was an effin emergency. The Root Beer Float flavored one curled my toes and toupee.
On my most recent visit to the shop it was pretty busy so I chose not to act paparazzish and snap away like applause at a spoken word event. I mean….What if I blew my cover and they realized that Real (the realest reviewer of this century) had arrived? Woulda gotten strange. Anyway I will continue to make this place my treat to myself when in town and so should you. Babies seem to like the place too so bring them. Herman’s gets a High 5 ✋.
Thanks for reading along and I hope this helps someone. Please follow along on my journey as I make my way to every state and review damn near everything!

Read moreWorking as a barista for 3 years as a young adult and growing up in a coffee farm in the Philippines and learning how to harvest and naturally sun dry and roast coffee beans…I’d like to consider myself a coffee snob and believe that I know good coffee when I see it. All that being said, Herman’s by far is THE best coffee I have had in the US. I know that sounds far fetched, but there’s a reason why the lines are always out the door. Herman’s really does coffee well. They grow and roast their own beans which means they know coffee.
On top of good coffee, they also make their own syrups and flavors and it makes a huge difference! Herman’s is a totally different experience if you like coffee. The wait is worth it.
I also love their mini specialty store where you can find different types of local goods and foods, chocolate, tinned fish, oils, seasonings, and non-alcoholic spirits.
If you’re all about supporting local businesses, this is one that should be supported for sure.
Cost is a bit high for certain goods but their drink cost aren’t bad and honestly a little less than Starbucks.
The service is a bit rocky but again it’s because they truly put their heart and soul into creating your drinks, they don’t rush so your drinks come out perfect. Patience is a virtue.
TIP: if you’re in a rush, pre-order your...
Read moreIf you are looking for a terrible coffee shop run by pretentious and rude hipsters then look no further! I ordered a triple shot latte and since they pull double shots, I asked for the fourth shot on the side so it would not be wasted. I have ordered this drink at every coffee shop for years and never an issue has been had. I paid for all four shots as they don’t offer a lesser price for three. After waiting for 15 mins a grungy hobbit like hipster of a manager came forward and informed me that “they don’t make my drink and if I want the fourth shot I would have to buy another drink”. I explained that I had paid for a quad shot and he still refused to serve me it. I offered to pay the difference it would cost to put my fourth shot in a small paper cup to which Bilbo Baggins replied “it doesn’t matter, we don’t make that drink and my baristas would have to charge me for an additional drink” I am not sure how things work in the Shire but in the real world if you pay for four shots of espresso then you get four shots. Maybe this is Herpmans way of pocketing some extra money or maybe Bilbo wanted the extra shot...
