I came here last night with my boyfriend, and honestly, the experience wasn’t great. I understand it was late and staff probably wanted to go home, but our server (Fennie Z) came across very uninterested in her job. She wasn’t outright disrespectfulll but her attitude and service made the whole meal feel unwelcoming. When we asked about sauces since we got the combo B that contained Chicken Karagge and two ramens (Miso & Tonkatsu) etc, she told us “we don’t give sauces out,” and only later said she’d “check if she could.” For ramen, soy sauce or chili oil feels like a basic option, and for dishes like chicken Karagge that can be dry, it really shouldn’t be a problem to ask. My boyfriend also wanted his broth spicier for the Tonkatsu ramen (since I wanted the miso not spicy) and instead of suggesting chili oil or an add-on cuz WE don’t mind paying more she just pointed at the spices on the table… and said she can’t change it and that I’d just have to eat the tonkatsu. Overall, she seemed and WAS very inattentive and gave off the vibe that she just wanted to clock out. She was literally not there half the time. It was either cleaning, hiding in the kitchen or their staff area but not in FOH. The food itself was okay, but not worth the price. We ordered Combo B which is $55 (two ramen, two desserts, and drinks). The ramen was fine but nothing special, especially compared to other spots in Chinatown. I also asked if I could remove bamboo shoots because of an allergy, but was told it couldn’t be modified, which was frustrating and left me having to hand it off to my boyfriend instead with the risk of me maybe getting a reaction. (Thankfully didn’t!).The only reason why I’m even making this review is because another server, lillie , was really kind and engaging with her tables. Watching the difference between her service and ours just felt unfair. She actually did talk to us later on about the card for this kyuramen spot and that we can work our way towards a free item. I don’t understand why our waiter couldn’t have done it? But. It’s just not an excuse. Overall, I HATE to leave negative reviews, but for the price point and the reputation, I expected better. I’ve been to kyuramens in New York since I’m from there and thought it would be just as good or even better since this location is newer but all I got was food that was decent, but the service we received really brought the...
Read moreOverall, pretty good. We ordered three orders of ramen, all of which were good. I ordered the pork boa buns (amazing!, but one came with wayyy too much fat, I asked the waitress after and she said if it happened again to tell them and they will replace it. Also, as good as it was it needs more ingredients than just a slice of pork [which was the star of the show and a little more than one small slice definitely wouldn't hurt], lettuce, sauce and the bread [which is super soft], it needs something that adds a nice crunch like the lettuce does but more so), chicken boa buns (fine), tempura with sweet chili dipping sauce (very good), gyoza dumplings (good but not great), beef skewer (my partner liked it but it wasn't for me), garlic chili edamame (surprisingly good, even my girlfriend who doesn't like edamame liked the glaze), popcorn chicken (Terrible! I even heard other people complaining about it, it was WAY TOO SALTY, undercooked, and had no real flavor, plus it looks unappealing) although to their credit when we told them this they gave us matcha pudding for free(although matcha tastes like grass to me haha, but the texture was good so if you like matcha, try it), mango smoothie(Me and my partner love mangos, and this was very yummy), yakotaki octopus balls ( first time trying this, I thought it was too mushy, nobody finished it), crispy sweet chili wings (they look amazing, and the outside had a really really nice flavor, but the inside not as much, it's almost like the quality of the chicken was low or there was too much flour underneath the glaze when they fried it, which made eating the skin amazing but the actual meat, like any other chicken fast food place), and the cherry blossom jelly which comes with a syrup but it's basically an almost unflavored gelatin sphere in a small bowl with the tapioca pearls from bubble tea (decent, tastes like watered down strawberries/cherries, the consistency of the gelatin is good since it's literally Jell-O, but the tapioca pearls were a little two hard, definitely tasted a little better/sweeter...
Read moreIf you're craving ramen and boba under one roof, Kyuramen x TBaar is a cool spot to check out. The restaurant has a sleek, modern vibe with cozy booth seating and a Japanese-inspired decor that makes it feel welcoming. The menu offers a solid range of ramen options, from creamy tonkotsu to spicy miso, with broth that's flavorful without being overly salty. Noodles are cooked just right, and toppings are fresh.
We ordered the Tonkatsu Omurice and it was absolutely delicious, crispy breaded pork with a tender bite, paired perfectly with the soft, flavorful omelet and sauce. The Matcha Tiramisu was the highlight of dessert, a perfect blend of rich matcha flavor and creamy sweetness without being overpowering.
The TBaar side is a nice bonus, they have a good selection of bubble teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. The brown sugar milk tea is a standout, rich and not overly sweet, and pairs surprisingly well with ramen if you're in the mood for both savory and sweet in one sitting.
Service is generally friendly and attentive, though it can get busy during peak hours, so expect a bit of a wait for your food if you come during dinner rush. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and portion sizes are satisfying.
Overall, Kyuramen x TBaar is a nice go-to for a casual meal when you want comfort food and a good...
