Well, I was excited to go to Mac's tavern, but it was a huge mistake. We walked in and stood by the "Please wait to be seated" sign for about 5-10 minutes before we finally decided to seat ourselves at the bar. When the bartender finally decided to ask if I wanted a drink, I asked for a bloody Mary. He never said a word, just shook his head no. I asked, "Do you not have the stuff to make it?" and he just turned and walked away. After pondering what just happened for a minute, we got up and left. It was so bad I actually looked at the website to see if the awful attitude was part of the Always Sunny thing but I didn't see anything about it, so I guess the bartender is just not a good person. As we were leaving the bar, the bartender yelled over the whole bar, "Thanks for not stealing anything." I have no idea what that was about. My only guess is that I have a southern accent, and I was wearing a camo baseball hat with Glock written on it. I'm guessing he just assumed I was just some redneck that didn't deserve to have a drink in a bar in Philadelphia. I'm assuming the "thanks for not stealing anything" was an assumption that I'm poor because I'm southern. Even though he's working as a bartender, I'm the poor person somehow in his mind. I should have bought the bar and fired him.
(The bartender was stocky, dark complected, with long wavy hair, and a beard, wearing an orange beanie in the summer. 🤣)
Update: I'm a little confused how you can ask for the timestamp to verify and then call me a liar before you look at the tape. Strange. But anyway, I took a picture in the bar so luckily, I have the exact time and the bartender was in the picture. He was wearing an orange beanie. (It was September 23, 2023, at 8:06 PM. It was 2 of us, and we sat at the very back of the bar. Watch the video and then tell me it was fiction.
For those of you reading this, after I posted the first part of the review, the manager commented and asked me when exactly this happened, so they could check the tape because they didn't believe me and said that my comment was fiction. So, I updated the post. This whole thing sucks because I'm a huge fan of Rob and Always Sunny. We drove several hours just to check this place out and ended up being forced to eat at Campo's. Which was great, by the way, and the owner was super friendly. So maybe...
Read moreVery chill bar. The food here is fantastic. We ordered the wings (hot), cheesesteak rolls, crab bisque, and the fish tacos. The wings here are amazing. The sauce they use is the perfect blend of tasty and hot. I'm not sure what else they mix with the sauce, but it's very different from your typical buffalo sauce. The level of spice for the hot is the perfect amount of spice if you really like spicy food, otherwise I'd suggest the mild. The cheesesteak rolls (made in house, never frozen!) were very unique in that they come on a plate drizzled with chocolate sauce and balsamic vinaigrette, served with marinara sauce. Never in my life would I have ever thought I'd enjoy the flavors of chocolate, balsamic, and cheesesteak, let alone realize that this combination of flavors is actually amazing. The crab bisque was equally unique in that, around the edges of the bowl, I could taste small amounts of something sweet, perhaps molasses or something along those lines. Large pieces of crab could be found in the crab bisque which makes it well worth it for that alone. The fish tacos come on a plate in a "make your own taco" fashion. They come with pico, guac, and some kind of aioli sauce. Most bars might serve two or three tacos, this place serves four. The prices might seem a tad on the expensive side, but for what you get, it's actually reasonably priced and well worth it. They have a very nice selection of draft beer. The service at the bar was great and the staff were friendly. Overall, the food at this bar is many steps above what you might consider to be typical bar food. I absolutely recommend checking...

This was my second visit to Mac’s Tavern. I went for a drink 10 years ago and felt the bar was lackluster at best. The vibe wasn’t great (very bro-y), and besides a few pictures of The Gang, the bar wasn’t overtly “Always Sunny” themed in any way.
Tonight, I decided to give it another shot and went for my friend’s birthday. We’re all huge Always Sunny fans and while I’m all for authenticity, the service was worse than the real Paddy’s Pub.
We got there around 6 this evening and the restaurant was mostly empty besides 2 tables and a handful of patrons at the bar. The bartenders ignored me for a good 10 minutes while I waited by the “please wait to be seated” sign. The one bartender walked past me and told me she would be right with me. Another 5 minutes passed and she finally asked how she could help me. I asked her if she could seat a table of 7 and she told me she could split us between two tables, but they just needed to be bussed. The rest of my party showed up and the tables were still not ready, but 7 spots opened at the bar so we sat there hoping to make it easier on the bartenders who were also serving. We then sat at the bar for 10-15 minutes without even being acknowledged. I put some money on my TouchTunes app and queued up a few songs, only to discover the TouchTunes wasn’t even being utilized and my songs wouldn’t get played.
Then a large party sat down at the bar and were brought waters immediately. We got up at this point and left and the one bartender started berating us on our way out the door. The whole experience...
