So glad we came across this spot after a late night show. It's open late which was great for us to be able to get a bite and not feel rushed. The inside is beautiful but still casual and comfortable. The staff—who I think were the owners—we're so kind and took great care of us.
The food was AMAZING. I personally got the paneer korma which came with rice, and our table ordered garlic naan. I noticed the door said BYOB but we all stuck with the bottled water, which was refreshing and tasted filtered. My dish was so flavorful, and spiced perfectly (I sheepishly requested as little spice as possible because I can't handle heat, and they were so kind about accommodating and recommending the mild). I could still taste the teensy tiniest bit of heat which was probably just from being seasoned perfectly. The paneer was delicious and they gave a generous portion. The food was filling but didn't feel too heavy. The garlic naan was delicious. There was a tiny wait but everything tasted extremely fresh. It felt like everything was coordinated to be top quality and them giving us as perfect of an experience as possible. We all agreed we will definitely be...
Read moreI’m belong to North India and my entire family is Foodie! We were visiting Philadelphia and did a lot research before choosing our restaurant. Seeing such great reviews on Google, we decided to eat here. Honestly, it was a disappointment. We are vegetarians. We ordered Hakka noodles and chili gobhi cauliflower. This was not bad and kids enjoyed. Getting excited about the food now.. ordered regular stuff, malai kofta (was mediocre) , paneer tikka masala (filled with color and sweeter than butter paneer), dal makhani (was a disaster, so sweet?), dal tadka (was decent-could be better), garlic naan (in spite of telling him to make thin and crispy, it was thick and mediocre again), I liked the veg biryani (finally I liked something) We couldn’t even think to try dessert. I would not recommend! Sorry...
Read moreFinally, Old City has good Indian food again! There's been a serious lack of it since Makhani closed during COVID (Kurry Shack just didn't cut it), but those days are over. I've only been once, so I haven't been able to explore the full menu yet, but I'm looking forward to it: this is going to be one of my go-to places, for sure. Food and service were excellent; ambiance was fine (although I personally am not a fan of the sticky vinyl-like table coverings). A good place to dine in solo, or for lunch; I don't know that I would take a date here for dinner, unless they too are big fans of high-quality Indian cuisine. Now we just need to make sure they stay in business: I'm definitely planning to...
