I have been a Ricci's customer since they opened in South philadelphia. I've turned all my new tenants who are new to the Philadelphia area on to that as the best hoagie shop in Philly I also ordered platters of Hoagies for meetings and a lot of our clients who aren't familiar with Regis I tell them they're a better choice over Primos . The South Philadelphia store will have to remain as the store that I go to even though parking can be tricky. I will never go to the Center City store again. Decided to try the new store because my mother is a resident in a nearby Nursing Facility and one of my employees lives in the Baldwin. Thought this might be a more convenient choice but never paid $25 for a hoagie a soft drink and a bag of chips at the South Philly store was overcharged $3. I asked for a side of sweet peppers, instead I was given roasted Peppers that I couldn't eat and did not request and charged $1. At most the South Philadelphia store may charge $0.25 for sweet peppers on the side but a dollar is outrageous to charge a customer for a product that they didn't want and the container is the size of a takeout container of ketchup. The cashier seemed confused about the differences between peppers and clearly she's someone who is not in the hoagie business or the sandwich business or she would have known the difference when a customer is asking for a side of sweet peppers . It was interesting when I walked in the store the woman said the only difference at this store is the staff everything else is like South Philly but that's not true because the key ingredient is clearly the staff who know their sandwiches and their sides and the accoutrements that make the hoagie experience memorable. I was charged a dollar because I asked for Cooper sharp on my hoagie no explanation for the upcharge the large Hoagie is $14.99. Isn't cheese a key ingredient of a hoagie under normal circumstances? Again this is a staff member not knowing the difference between cheeses there should not be an upcharge for Cooper Cheese if I was asking for something like extra sharp provolone or something of that sort I could understand it but for Cooper Sharp that was unbelievable . Finally, I was charged a management tetailfee that I don't understand and that was 3% of the total which was .67. In all the additional $2.67 that I still don't understand why I was charged these rates and the $14.99 for the hoagie as well as a beverage and chips which was an additional $5.50 was $24.19. I'll stick to South Philadelphia where it feels more like a neighborhood and not so corporate and where I don't have to pay a fee to cover the rent that the retail space is being charged and I'm not receiving an upcharge for things like cheese or a side of sweet peppers. Also it's worth noting that this store was empty when I walked in at 1:30 in...
Read moreWent into the shop and these guys were so nice! Gave me two fresh loaves of bread and a bag of chips on the house. The place has some of the freshest ingredients in Philly! I ordered an old fashioned and had no sauce and this Hoagie is easily one of the best I’ve had. This is what I imagine when someone says local business in Philly. They need more signage out front though because everyone should experience this place! Owner seemed so nice too! Place looked spotless clean. I know you might see that other review but let me tell you if she had actually went into the business she would have had a DIFFERENT experience. Hate to see a review that could have been solved with the owner and arguably has nothing to do with the business. This place is a GEM and I’m sure the guys inside would have corrected a wrong...
