A Revolution Taco Explored
When you think about a revolution, usually what comes to mind is the American, French, or Russian revolution. Maybe even the “Revolutionary” Etude by composer Frederic Chopin for those classically inclined.
But, there is a new revolution in town and it’s name is Revolution Taco. Located on 2015 Walnut St., Philadelphia, Carolyn Nguyen and Michael Sultan decided to expand their food truck concept and opened the restaurant.
It was my second time going to Revolution Taco, right after working on my father’s music in a local cafe gem, Saxbys.
When I entered the Revolution Taco, I liked their decor, with the natural colors, seating areas, and spice station.
For the second time, I ordered 2 Gold Angus Ground Beef Tacos (includes the 2 tortilla, ground beef, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese blend, and lime creme).
This time though, I was in my no-carb mode and ate the inside part of the taco. Because the portion is quite big, I felt just about right concerning being full. The taste was magnificent, blending various ingredients in an awesome manner with a little kick.
The one aspect I will say that is on the more negative side is the price. I believe the Revolution Taco could have priced their tacos about .50-1.00 dollar less than they did. But overall, I have to say that these tacos are really good and will be there more often than...
Read moreYesterday i came in for lunch after hearing high praise about the tacos here. I got the smoked pork tacos with rice and beans. The tacos Looked beautiful but the taste.... such a let down. The tortilla was sooo thick like i was eating a taco sandwich and the pork was luke warm at best. The beans and rice had absolutely no flavor, no garlic, no adobo in sight. The icing on the cake was when I asked about the Horchata I ordered. Once i received it, i asked the guy if there was any dairy in it as i had assumed it was only coconut milk. He was not sure so i explained that my lactose intolerance cause a real issue if there was dairy and if i could get a different drink. He then told me that since he poured the drink that he couldn't exchange it. Wow.... needless to say the $20 meal was a complete waste. If you like food with flavor with an authentic mexican taste, this is not the place for you. Ps... ill give some credit for an immaculately...
Read moreThe reason this place gets two stars is because the first time we went the food was interesting. I got the cauliflower tacos and the duck. Cauliflower was underwhelming but the duck was good. My wife good the Korean beef and she said they were good but the beef was very fatty. We went back on national taco day, due to the flip of a coin, took our kids. By the morning my wife was throwing up, started in the middle of the night, I got diarrhea by morning and was vomiting by the afternoon, my son made it the whole day and started vomiting at midnight, our daughter was vomiting in the middle of the night. We trace the bug back to this place because it was the only meal that we had together that day, fruit for breakfast and different lunches. My wife and I didn’t eat the day of the bug. Sorry not sorry Revolution tacos. The food wasn’t good the second time and got us sick. Waste of time and money, not to mention...
