Royal Pizza — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I came across Royal Pizza while visiting a friend and crazing something simple. There are a few pizza options in the area, but something drew me into wanting to give them a try.

I ordered through the Slice app for convenience and got 3 items. My order was made correctly to order.

The first item I chose was a small meat lovers pizza w/ extra cheese. This was made perfectly. The pizza was flavorful and filling. It even kept it's flavor after upon reheating it for leftovers, which shows using more quality ingredients.

My second item was a plain cheesesteak with american cheese. This did not stand out too much and left me desiring more out of it. It could've used more meat and cheese, but I know that there is an extra meat option through the app that I didn't choose.

Lastly, I got the cheese fries with whiz. This is a classic and exactly what I was looking for.

This little pizza place is adorable in that, the owners have an Old School sweetness & hominess that reminds me of the NJ "pizza places" where I grew up. They are so so warm and kind, which is very hard to find in Philly restaurants! When I arrived, my pie was not quite ready, so I waited outside. 5 minute later, the kind gentleman brought it out to me without even being asked. That really made my day!

I ordered a 10" veggie pie with mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, onion and fresh sliced tomatoes. The crust was delightful, fluffy & dense. The veggies were fresh and thoughtfully placed on the pie giving it great visual appeal. When I bit into it, each bite gave me just the right amount of juiciness. I ordered a meat lover Stromboli. The food showed up, and I got a meat lover pizza instead. The restaurant owns up to it, and then the woman says that they will take back the pizza and send a Stromboli. The only problem is, after a long day, I was very hungry, and didn't want to wait, so I had already started eating the pizza, which was my fault. I didn't think restaurants even took back food once they deliver it. The woman then angrily asks why I started eating the pizza, and proceeds to start getting even angrier with me. I have been a pretty consistent customer, but I will most likely be taking a break, maybe for good.
