To say the service here is bad is an understatement and to match it the food is something you would expect from a subway. No flavor in the meat at all. To start this off we read online that the restaurant opens at 10am so we showed up at 10:26 and the door was locked. 5 mins later a man come around and says “ hope you know we don’t serve breakfast and it’s 10:30am” as he shakes his head and unlocks the door. As if we are bugging him by being there. Did I mention how bad the sub is for $33 bucks for two. 🤮 We are sitting on the couch at 8pm my wife and I both sick to our stomachs. Any way not a good experience for us. We were hoping for the Philly experience as we are from out of town. I think I’ll just stick to jersey mikes as their subs are far better than this hut’s so called steak and cheese which is really a lot of bread cheese and very little meat with no flavor. I mean I think Wawa could make a better sub. The tall guy with an airpod in his ear wearing dirty gym shorts is who is running that place into the ground. Lord I hope this place can refund me somehow…… definitely do not recommend. I might buy a gift card to this place for my ex mother in law next Christmas. All jokes aside, don’t go there. We weee hoping that after our 4.5 hour drive we would’ve been happy with our Philly cheesesteak experience. I’ll stick to my local rundown sub shack here in VA. And here the stomach pains come back…… ugh it’s gonna be...

My review is based primarily on value. Not feeling bound by tradition, the cheesesteak was passable. A bit different than I remembered from my youth, but that may be a false memory. I seem to recall them having overstuffed chopped cheesesteaks, but it is now thin steak slices layered up to not much meat. Less work, and I guess it gives people the impression of being better quality? $11 for a cheesesteak seems to me like a very high price to begin with, especially in northeast philly. I was expecting a knock your socks off experience, and was already there, so I went for it. My first impression when handed my sandwich was "wow, feels light". It was. It was covered in cheese which ain't bad, but in the 45 seconds to go my car, the whole sandwich was floppy, probably partly due to the steak being layered in it. I was not impressed with the roll, either. Crust was flaking off. Not sure, maybe it was on it's way to stale? For the money, I do not believe Steve's is a good value. Cheesesteaks are not a delicacy, and I have honestly had a better tasting chopped style from local "pizza" shops. To each their own, but pick your steak place based on your preferred style would be my advice. The expensive "Philly traditions" in my experience are more hype than anything, and Steve's fits the bill perfectly in my opinion. I don't see myself...

This place is a dive. Such a disappointment after all the raves this place gets. I was so excited to try it and so let down.

First and foremost, the only thing that matters is taste. The meat was soooo bland that it was blatantly obvious that the cook had not seasoned it ... at all. The serving size was pathetic unless you pay up for the double meat, which did nothing for the taste nor the texture. Other places have sandwiches that are literally overflowing ... and delicious. I have alot of experience with quality meat ... and there ain't none in this sandwich.

Maybe I got a bad sandwich. Maybe. But if that's the case, then the best I can say is that they're unacceptably inconsistent. Not Good.

Oh by the way, the cheese fries were soggy. Period. It's not rocket science to make proper fries. I literally threw them in the garbage.

As for giving a bad review... I tell it like it is. I didn't give me a bad experience. They did. I'm just sharing what my experience was, exactly as it was.

Two people. $45. Wow, what a waste of time and money. Save yours. Go somewhere else. Anywhere. There are puh-lenty of...

We've been to the "big two" cheese steak places in Philly and to several others, but Steve's is hands-down the best! The flavor is just out of this world. The onions are perfect, the meat is delicious, the bread fresh and tasty and the cheese is the perfect balance for the flavors. One of the bonuses I loved about this place is they have an easy guide to ordering on the wall so you know how to order and what you'll get. Incidentally, the fries are delicious and the burgers are pretty good too. A quick guide to ordering Philly cheese steak: They know you're there for cheese steak so don't say that part, what they want to know is what kind of cheese you want and whether you want it with or without onions. So for a Philly cheese steak with American cheese and onions, all you say is: American with. For cheese-wiz without onions, just say: wiz without. You don't need to waste time on any other words and if you do you'll look like a tourist!

I hate leaving negative reviews but I am trying to help anyone looking for honesty about where to eat. I will keep it short. I will come back and re-evaluate at some point but this trip was not good. - It took 45 minutes for 3 steaks and only 4 people in line ahead of me. - The fries are a separate cook so my fries with whiz were cold and mushy by the time I got the steaks. - This was not a staffing issue, there were 5 people working. - 2 grill cooks and they were working ticket to ticket. Didn't put the meat on the grill for one order until the entire last order was complete. - Not a cheap steak, and not a ton of meat. I am a chef of 20 years. Not only do I know what i'm talking about, but it kills me to leave a negative review. Get your act together Steve's. I was told this place was excellent, I was lied to.
