Usually a big fan, but waiting today 25 plus minutes for avacado toast and ppl coming in after me, ordering the same but with special toppings getting served before me, NOT OKAY. Three to Four times I mentioned what I was waiting for and got the same excuse. And I don't know if it was my blackness, being a Black woman, that made minimizing and wasting my time was okay, but no, it's never okay to minimize and waste tine or skip over customers. And as a business owner, when these things happen you do your best to make it better. You comp a pastry, a gift card for an order next tin3e and sure as heck put some heart into the apology and urgency to meeting the order.
in response to the response from vibrant below- we DO NOT EVER assume that something was not possibly racially motivated or influenced and then deny a person of color feeling that way when 1) you are not the person of color 2) you werenāt there 3) your front facing staff may be ethnically diverse but were all White appearing/ passing today 4) those served before the Black woman but came after were not Black. That āI think you knowāassumption you made, we call that a micro aggression. Because todayās experience with clearly new non Black staff does not have anything to do with my past experiences. Non racially motivated incidences in the past have nothing to do with what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had high hopes about Vibrant, but came away frustrated and glad to move along in my day. We have all had these experiences and (sadly) they are not unique to Vibrant: the too-small shop with lots of customers, no clear line and no ability to see what is on offer until you are at the counter to order. The cafe simply isnāt well designed for the traffic they appear to get. This design makes it difficult for staff or customers to really have a positive interaction as everyone appeared slightly annoyed. None of the staff were making eye contact with any of the customers and basic customer service was missed. The shop itself was disordered and slightly clutteryāshould I sit by this counter that is next to a juice refrigerator but slightly in the way of folks in line? Where do I wait for my drink? Having said all that, Iām not sure the frustrations were balanced by great coffee either. The espresso was solidly delivered and technically spot-on; neither the roast or the preparation yielded anything memorable. With other shops like Thank You Thank You just around the corner, Vibrant is not a place Iām likely to return to when Iām next in Washington Square. With better coffee, excellent customer service and a much more welcoming space, Thank You Thank You sets the bar for this...
