I went to Skin House Facial Bar for over a year. My personal experience with my facialist was overall a very positive one - she was always so kind and for a while the treatments were really great. However, after going off Spiro, my sensitive, acne prone skin went to its normal, sensitized state. My skin kept getting worse, and my husband noticed that it was worse after each visit to Skin House - it would start to get better, and then get worse again after facials or after adding a new product sold by Skin House. I finally looked up the products sold to me - EVERY SINGLE ONE had pore clogging ingredients in them! So each time that I was recommended more products and treatments to fix the issue, it was making it worse. I understand that not everyone has sensitive skin and might be fine with these products, but for me, this caused months of issues that are finally resolved once I stopped using the products and getting the treatments. Going to a Derm helped too, but even before then - as it took a couple weeks to get an appointment - as soon as I stopped the Skin House products and treatments, things started getting immediately better. As the treatments at Skin House use these problematic products, I cancelled my membership and was told I could ask the owner, Shireen, for a refund for the last treatment that I paid for but never used - the payment went through right before I had been able to cancel. Now it has been over a month of trying to get this resolved, and she is not offering me a refund for a treatment I paid for, and didn't use, and can't use because of the products used at this location. I tried to resolve this privately and via email but as there has been no response, I want to warn those of you with sensitive skin to be careful of going here - you might be much better off with a dermatologist. Trendy products and fancy spa lines often have unnecessary ingredients, and this ended up causing me so many unnecessary problems. I'm not naming my facialist in this review because she is a lovely person and I think she did the best she could with the products that she had. I do want to note also, the products I bought were able to be returned for a refund, so I appreciate that, but I should also be refunded for this final service that I did not ever use and will not ever use. So fair warning, if you have sensitive or acne prone skin, this place might do you more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTrinity was an absolute gem!!!! I was so apprehensive and embarrassed about my skin because of hyperpigmentation and had never had a professional facial done, so I just googled some information and I found SHFB! My esthetician Trinity put me at ease and made me feel so comfortable. It felt like your sister doing your facial at a slumber party vibe, the sister that knew what she was doing of course, lol. The only thing I would change is having an area where the consultations could be private. Not everyone may be comfortable with discussing their skin journey and concerns around other people. I know I was not. Also, I was concerned with their knowledge of African American skin because looking at their website, there wasnāt a lot of African American models posted, or anyone with troublesome skin. So I arrived fully loaded with questions and concerns! I was also anticipating some before and after pics as well(with client consent of course)to put my brain at ease, because sometimes visuals tend to do that, but again, Trinity was professional, kind, knowledgeable, gentle, and down to earth! I never realized how dirty and clogged my skin mustāve been before the facial because my skin felt amazing afterwards. And I swear I could see a difference in it. So excited for this skin care journey! Going to follow the advice of Trinity, and if all done correctly, hopefully Iāll notice an improvement within 4 weeks when I go back. My next appointment is already booked and I have already recommended friends and family to SHFB to see Trinity. This...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a member at Skin House for over a year and always had nothing but great things to say. However, I asked to cancel my membership in person due to personal reasons and I was told that there would be a 30 day notice so my next monthly appointment would be my last. Totally fine. A few months after my last appointment I noticed that I was still getting charged the monthly membership dues so I called the spa to report this issue and I was told to send an email and explain the situation. I immediately sent an email and got no answer after a week. So I called again and they said to resend the email. They answer and said their ācancellation policyā requires an email to be sent requesting the cancellation and that my membership was not cancelled since I never sent an email. I have not been made aware of such policy when asking to cancel in person. The esthetician and I both operated under the assumption that my last appt was actually my last. So I replied explaining the situation again and did not get an answer. I then send two more follow up emails and STILL do not get any answers. So I call the spa to follow up and was told that they will let the owner know. Again, no reply to my emails. How can your cancellation policy require communication via email when clearly the email account is never checked? Or am I just being ignored? Regardless, I am extremely frustrated with the whole situation and just gave up altogether. I enjoyed my time here at this facial spa but this experience has been totally disappointing and sadly I will not...
