Having read an article about Brody's Italian yesterday, I was keen to try it. I loved the story of how the current owner worked there since he was 16 years old and later took over the business with great success. I DIDN'T expect said owner would be waiting on me for dinner - you don't get that often.
I ordered a caesar salad (smaller portion than regular menu) off the Happy Hour Menu. It was the perfect size for me, as I was about to dig into one of my favorites - Osso Bucco - which you don't get many places. The caesar dressing was a perfect balance of garlic, lemon, anchovy - nothing over powered the other. Last minute I decided to add some garlic bread with cheese - BIG portion, and the bread was really fresh and delicious. One piece was all I could handle.
Let's talk about Osso Bucco. If you don't know the traditional way is a Veal Shank - which a lot of places don't use because of the cost. They tray to pass off beef or pork. Not Brody's you order veal you get veal. The meat was falling off the bone tender - and really moist and delicious. The portion of Parmesan Risotto that accompanied it could make four meals and was creamy, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Many people over cook the risotto - and it gets sticky like rice. Not here. Done perfectly.
I bagged up what I couldn't finish (thanks Ozempic) and brought the rest home which I just had for lunch, and still have enough for dinner.
I like the vibe of this place. A group of old friends were at the end of the bar gabbing, and the staff is very friendly and service was excellent. I will be back again and again, I saw about 10 more items I would like to try and I never even made it to dessert.
The Happy Hour menu is great, and I saw a lot of well priced drinks and wines.
The restaurant is nice casual, I felt very under dressed but the owner put me at ease and said I was dressed just fine.
I'll be back. I hesitate to give you a price point as I did select one of the most expensive entrees on the menu. I feel the menu overall is very fairly priced for...
Read moreCompletely humiliated tonight after ordering off of the catering menu. I ordered a dish that suggests it’s served 10-12 people. We questioned the small tin at pick up and we were brushed off and quests were on their way. It only served 6 adults!!!!! Barely Coincidently. We only got 6 slices of bread and a handful of bread pieces.
I knew it when I saw the size of the tin. No way that would serve 10-12
Completely humiliated and had to scramble to feed the rest of the guests.
Beware their catering portions are truly HALF of what they claim
RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW**
Shocked by the arrogant response after my humiliating evening.
The owner needs to review his catering website. They clearly offer two options, 10-12 or 20-25 person portions.
The owners response tried to shame me about not better communicating what I was needing. I chose their suggested amount to serve 10-12 PEOPLE.
I wasn’t hosting athletes and also had pre dinner appetizers. I was serving 8 and had to scramble to provide for two more people.
Yes, I sent an email because it’s what they offer to order from their catering website menu, but I did try calling. Clearly no one was at the restaurant at 9:00am. I didn’t order a half tray, as the owner wrote on his response to deflect anything on their part. I ordered your suggested serving for 10-12 people.
I stand by my review that their suggested 10-12 person catering portion, truly...
Read moreRead a lot of amazing reviews for nick’s. Maybe I was expecting too much but I must say I was slightly disappointed. I ordered a to-go order and the food was prepared fairly quick. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is impeccable. I ordered an appetizer and two dinners. Apparently there is no difference between a dinner or a la carte except for maybe the price. The appetizer was grilled eggplant in garlic and capers. Crab ravioli and pasta marinara (penne pasta) with meatballs were the dinners. The one thing that everything was missing was garlic. I don’t know about others, but when I get Italian food, I want garlic, lots of garlic. I want my food cooked with garlic, I don’t want to have to add granulated garlic on food that’s already cooked. Not the same, not even close. Dinners came with a few small pieces of bread. For the price I think I expected more. More garlic, more food, more satisfaction. Me personally, I tried Nick’s but I don’t think I will be back. It wasn’t horrible, and I’ve had horrible, but, I can’t see myself spending $60.00 on two dinners that, for lack of a better term, lacked. I am editing in the location as per requested by the owner. This was at the Tatum &...
