Calitacos — Restaurant in Phoenix

To start: After calling ahead to check on closing time ( 9:00) we arrived at 8:35pm and the chairs were on the table and the floor was being mopped. The young lady at the counter said that we could still order-which we did for takeout.

My al pastor tacos at first bite were great-a “deep” smokey flavour. But after eating more they tasted very salty which detracted from the first burst of flavour. I ordered a combo plate but won’t again. The rice was a sticky blob of yellow grains with the overpowering taste of salt and nothing else. The refried beans would have been ok without (again) the salt. The combo comes with a fountain drink. The choices were just soda- no tea or lemonade. I guess I am spoiled by Cafe Rio’s choices of drinks.

If you order the tacos with everything I suggest that you order the guacamole on the side. Sitting on top of the meat its bland flavour added nothing to the rest of the taco. The little bit of cilantro was limp and soggy. On the Plus side: nice to have a choice of flour or corn tortilla. We may try again earlier in the day-maybe we just caught them on...

Black girl with long blond hair with blue stripes in it worse attitude I’ve ever seen she clearly doesn’t like working there I can’t ever feel comfortable ordering food, I was just a nice customer walking in. I don’t want to see her in there again with the same attitude. Even when my food was ready she just shouted a little “ your food”. She wasn’t nice the whole time. I’m so sorry this is never like me to leave a review like this but I’m tired of the constant disrespect and rude attitude from any food place I have to take it in every single time with how nice I am I won’t say anything because I have years of fast food experience. I had the worse day today and you just never know what’s going on with people this is exactly why I won’t be rude to employees ever! I’ll always be nice even after today, I’m so disappointed I’m letting a lot of people know about this girl before any customer decides to walk in because you guys shouldn’t be upsetting...

I was hesitant to leave a review because I don’t want everyone to know about my favorite taco spot. I want it all to myself! Love this place- only $7.99 for 3 street tacos rice beans and a drink! (The previous bad review made it sound like she paid 9.99 for only a burrito but I assure you she also got 2 sides and a drink, still a killer deal). Plus their green salsa is soooo good. I’ve literally come here 3 times this week already and I just found out about it. Reading a lot of the negative reviews, there are a lot of entitled people in this area now. “THeY oNlY had SoDa No TeA oR lEmOnAdE!” Expecting free stuff, credit card machine charges a fee? Boo hoo, use cash and don’t expect a free handout. If you’re gonna nit pick everything about this place, you belong at a fancy HIGH priced restaurant...
