I have always had a great experience here. No complaints whatsoeverâŚuntil this morning.
A few weeks ago, I gave my email information to receive a free drink. Iâve been here dozens of times without any necessary promotions but if theyâre offering a free drinks for emails, why not? Well my email came with an expiration date of 7 days. On day 6, I pack up my infant and head up for some free Sunday morning coffee. I get there, only to realize that I had left my phone at home (or so I thought) and had no way of showing the email. I explain the email to the barista (Rachel, I think) along with my situation but she doesnât know what promotional email Iâm talking about and says she needs the code off of the email in order to honor it. I told her that I understand that not everyone is trustworthy and donât blame her for needing to see the email. I go ahead and order my coffee anyways and hang out for a minute before heading back out to the car. As soon as I get to the car I see my phone underneath my driver side seat. I pull up the email and walk back in to show the barista. She stares at me dumbly as I show her the email as if she doesnât quite understand why I am showing her. 1. I wanted her to know I wasnât lying and 2. I thought it was important for the employees to know what kind of promotional offers their customers might have because there is in fact, no code on the email. I didnât intend to use the coupon for a second drink but when she continued to just blankly stare at me I felt like I needed to have an excuse to be talking to her so I went ahead and ordered a second drink with the coupon. Slightly embarrassed I step aside and waited for my drink. I watch her interactions with the girl who was cooking food off to the right. They exchange quick glances at me and talk quietly among themselves shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. I felt extremely belittled and almost would have rather walked out right then without getting my coffee to avoid further embarrassment.
Treatment today sucked and has left a bad taste in my mouth. Coffee is...
Read moreI actually like this place. It's a large enough coffeeshop that you are reasonably certain to find a place to sit, but during the cooler months there is also plenty of outdoor seating as well, and so I'll frequently come here in order to work on one of my drawings while enjoying my coffee.
My one complaint is this: They have a large room which off the main seating area. This room (I forget the name they've given it) is available for groups to rent for various gatherings, at which point no other customers can sit in it. When it is not being used thusly, anyone can sit in there. My problem is that the staff doesn't do a good job of letting you know WHEN a group has the room reserved. Thus, situations like what happened this morning occurred... Myself, as well as about a dozen other customers had sat in there, each doing our own things. Then, a staff member comes in to inform us that the room had been reserved for 8 a.m. (this happened around 7:45), at which point we all had to get up and relocate to the main seating area. My problem is that there should have been a sign posted at the entrance to that room, stating that it had been reserved for 8 a.m. If there had been, I assure I'm intelligent enough to have looked at my watch when I arrived (about 7:30 a.m.), and to have NOT chosen to sit in that room.
It may seem like a small thing, but it is actually annoying to have to be told to relocate once I'm comfortable and already working, when all the staff had to do was something simple like put a handwritten sign. So I feel they need to do a better job of managing the access to that room so that they don't inconvenience their customers to that extent again. And trust me, I wasn't the only grumbling about it at the time.
Nonetheless, it is a good coffeeshop, and I'll return to it, but they ought to be more mindful of making sure customers don't sit in that special room when they know it will soon be occupied by those who rented it. Trust me, we're smart enough to stay out of it if...
