The Pizza 411The Pizza 411
It's a thing in NY City... it started with one pizza place named Ray's that is incredible!!! So good that others started calling their place Ray's pizza.. then it got ridiculous because then you had places calling themselves "The Original Ray's Pizza"! It's beyond ridiculous and a joke to everyone who lives in NY. Moving out to the Phoenix metro area I never dreamed they had the same "Ray's Pizza" problem! LOLOL That's even funnier! Despite the confusion and hilarity of this whole "Ray's Pizza" craziness... this particular site stands out above the rest. So far I have only head their pizza... on multiple occasions (lol). It's good.. definitely NY style and pretty good. It's not the best which is why I can't give it 5 stars but it's definitely enjoyable! ------------------------------------------------ Went back again and ordered a Sicilian pie... I have now upgraded my rating from 4 starts to 5! Delicious!!!!!! ---------------------------------------------- Okay, I am now officially a regular at this place! Always consistent and always delicious. Went tonight and picked up a Chicken Parm Dinner with Ziti! Mmmmmm! MMM!!! Awesome!! ---------------------------------------------- Meatball Calzone!!!! OMG AMAZING!!!! WOW!!

Look at the photo I attached with this review. I ordered a medium veggie pizza. To the manager/owner: Whoever made my pizza on Monday April 18 @ 8:30pm put an EXTREME amount of toppings on the pizza. Look at the plate in the photo. I took my hands and picked up all those veggies from the pizza and put it on a plate to show you. Why on earth would he/she put THAT much toppings on a medium pizza??? It's enough for an extra large! I spent $30 on a pizza I can't even eat. It's soggy and ruined. I work hard for my money and can't tell you how disappointed I am. I read your replies that you said to other disappointed customers: "I hope you give us another chance" "I hope you come back soon" "We’re working on making improvements, so this won't happen again". It's been a year of "working on improvements" according to the timeline of these bad reviews. I wish you would offer a refund and/or say that you will talk to the cook who is responsible for poor quality food. I don't see you saying any of that. To save you some time, I won't "be back soon" or "give you another chance."

The thing that matters most is the pizza is fire. Got the veggie lovers and it really surprised me. That fried-like eggplant they top it with is probably the best way I’ve ever put eggplant into my body. The broccoli was just Ight, maybe if they used smaller pieces would have gone better. As far as the restaurant front goes it’s got a hole in the wall feel inside. Also feels like there’s holes in the Walls because as someone mentioned it’s a little stuffy inside. Not a fine dining type of atmosphere. It’s like a greasy New York pizza shop, but that’s where you go to get the best pizza. Take out or eat in, you can’t go wrong if you don’t have a fork yo your rear.

Today, October 17, 2024, at 1:43 p.m., I placed a phone order for 2 slices of Sicilian (deep dish) with extra cheese; one slice with pineapple. I have only eaten here on two occasions and found the crust very hard, even underneath. This is because the slices are precooked and then reheated in the oven. I asked her if there was something that they could put under the slices to reduce this and she said that the more toppings the longer it needs to cook. I explained that I've only ever order 1 topping and extra cheese. She sounded irritated and told me that she's been doing this for 20 years. I said that I was just asking if it was possible to put something under pizza and that I wasn't trying to argue. I accidentally touched my earbud, which disconnected the call, so I called back and explained what had happened. I then asked to add a medium root beer to my order and she rapidly said that I can order that when I pay and then abruptly hung up. When I arrived I said I had a togo order and asked for a medium root beer. She showed me my pizza slices and said she had them cooked lightly. The cheese hardly looked melted, but I didn't say anything other than asking for a medium root beer. She said is that okay and I said "It would have to be." I then asked if I could please get a medium root beer?" She became irritated and said they could reheat it, but I just asked again for the root beer. (I just wanted to get my order and return to work) She then grabbed my pizza's and said thatvshe will keeping them, accused me of coming in with a smug look on my face and that she can refuse service to anyone. I told her that she'd hung up on me. She began raising her voice and told me to leave. I asked the cook if he was hearing all of this and she told me that she would have security escort me out. This employee and or family member denied me my lunch and escalated this to a completely unnecessary level because she didn't like the look on my face. I had not complained about anything. I had not raised my voice or yelled. I was completely humiliated. I have health issues and I have to eat regularly. She denied me my food, yelled at me, insulted me and publicly humiliated me. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to why she became so angry and refused to just ring me up. This was all about her and her need to control everything. I am old enough to remember what good customer service is. This was not that. The two other times I had been in, the employees were very pleasant and friendly. This was unbelievably the worst customer service and experience I've ever had! I would also like to recommend that your door handle be cleaned. I did like the flavor of your pizza, but I will never subject myself to that type of abusive...

Heard great things about this pizza. Went in to order once slice of cheese. The owner is showing a guy how to make pizza. He’s also handled my cash. Then I seen he went to cut my pizza. First red flag was he touched the crust of the pizza without washing his hands. I left it alone because I thought, just don’t eat that part. Then he goes to put cheese on an uncooked pizza. When I seen that, I asked for my money back. It’s one thing to not wear gloves but you should NEVER handle money then go back and handle food without washing your hands. I actually don’t understand why I came back because I remember walking out because I didn’t feel comfortable with how the owner presented himself. First impressions are everything and if this is my first time eating here, I don’t want the owner to look like he hasn’t bathed in 3 days and has had on the same clothes for 2 days straight. I am not trying to bash the owner in any shape or form but you are dealing with peoples FOOD! There’s a reason we have health regulation, etc. If the pizza is that good that you can throw health out the window then by all means! Eat there. But I honestly wouldn’t advise anyone to eat there until hr had a better way of managing the place. The person handling the food should not be handling the cash register. BUT, if you must, then just wash your hands every time you get done handling cash. DO YOU KNOW HOW DIRTY MONEY IS? I’m sorry, I was just very disgusted. It was one thing to touch my crust but you just made a whole pizza without washing your hands. Can’t do it! Please watch the owner if you guys do choose to eat there. Don’t let him keep getting away...

Wife had seen some reviews of this place, and we were definitely tired of the chain sub restaurants, so decided to give Famous Ray's a chance. I'll be completely honest that I deducted a star because the cooks weren't wearing a mask, the girl at the register wore it on her neck instead of her face, and they allowed a customer (who appeared as an athletic man in his 20s sit inside without any mask. As for the food, we thought it was good, not great. My wife had a steak sub, but was surprised there wasn't anything else on it - - said if we were to go back (not happy about the lack of masks) she would inquire if it was missed on her sub, or if she would be able to add peppers and onions, for instance. I had the meatball sub, which was good, but could have used a little more sauce, and more flavor in the meatball. I also think that the meatballs should be slightly smaller, it would be less messy to eat, but that's just my opinion. We also each had a slice of the pepperoni pizza, which again was good, but not great, and it also tasted like it had been sitting there for over an hour, getting a little dried up. Again, not sure if we'll be back, and if we were going only by the food we probably would, but it wasn't good enough for us to say we can't wait to...
