Federico's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Phoenix

Don't let this place full you. It may look like just like a hole in the wall little Mexican restaurant, however, the prices are absolutely wonderful along with their food and service. Located along 23rd Avenue and Indian School Rd this little place may be a little hard to maneuver in and out of because of a small parking lot and traffic, yet don't allow this to discouraged you because it is well worth the stop. Considering prices today and our rising economy, when it comes to eating out It can be pretty expensive. So we decided to take a chance and buy our food here because I was starving and this was the place that we decided to eat at. So we went through the drive-thru and to my amazement the prices were really good. As we waited my husband needed to use their facilities and the young lady at the window invited us to come on in and allowed us to use the restroom even though it's not available to the public. I noticed that the restaurant area is pretty small and there are about 8 small tables. Other then that the service was great. We received our food in a timely manner once we ordered. for years now and I've always been satisfied with their service.The food is always good and proportions are huge-I can never finish it in one serving! Also, the staff are friendly, efficient, and laid back.If your walking by and want to pop in to get out of the heat for a moment, the staff dont trip because your not buying something like some restaurants do. The only downside is the location...Federico s is located in the hood, you go there on any given day chances are you'll witness a fight or the cops arresting someone. But while the restaurant is not big (it only contains approximately 10 booths), nor fancy shmancy...it does have really good food at affordable prices. Hours said they closed at 10. So I called ahead of time to see if I could place an order to pick up, and lady said yes, so I told her I'd call back to give her my order. Called back 2 minutes later and no answer. Figured I'll just drive down there since it was only 9:10. Got there at 9:35 and she sees us pull up. She turned the lights off and locked the doors and took the trash out to the back. We walked to the door and knocked and she ignored us. We kept calling her till she answered since the sign says their open till 10pm. She answered and said they turned off their grill already for the night. Point is they close when they feel like it so don't go by the hours on the website or even bother to call.
