We always try to take advantage of Taco Tuesday and this week we stopped at La Oaxaquena. They specialize in Oaxacan cuisine which is known for its rich flavors and diverse dishes, often featuring indigenous ingredients like corn, chiles, and chocolate, and unique regional specialties like tlayudas, mole, and huaraches. Now on Tuesday's they have $1.99 street tacos including, carne asada, pollo, pastor and chorizo. We tried them all as well as their shrimp taco for good measure. Thier street tacos we filled with delicious and flavorful meats the regional spices shined through in their preparation but the shrimp taco was the star of the show. My only complaint was that the internet advertised $3.00 drafts all day long which I showed the waitress but she said was no longer the case and thier menu listed a side of rice and beans for $2.99 and we were charged $5.98 we really enjoyed the salsa selection the chips and tortillas were homemade. All in all it was a good experience even with the pricing...
Read moreThis place seems like it can’t decide between being a sit down restaurant or a fast casual walk up place. We sat ourselves, ordered waters, which came bottled. That was odd for a place that has servers. Ordered a breakfast burro and a bottle of coke. Burro was nothing great, it barely had any bacon in it. Got my receipt and found that they charged $2.50 FOR A BOTTLE OF AQUAFINA. If the table asks for waters to start you may want to mention that you serve bottles and charge for them. I still left a tip, so for a sub-par burrito, a bottle of Coke, and a bottle of water, the total was $25. Absolutely insane. I’ve had better experiences at your local neighborhood ‘Bertos restaurant for far less $$. The rest of the table seemed to genuinely enjoy their tacos but they had the same...
Read moreAbsolutely fabulous fresh and authentic Mexican food! I lived in Mexico City for many years and grew to love flautas—they were a huge comfort food for me, and I hadn’t found something comparable in the U.S. even though so many places serve them. And then my husband and I stopped into La Oaxaquena! Amazing, fresh, crunchy and delicious flautas, just like DF. The green salsa has the perfect amount of heat and you can never go wrong with the OG Mexican Coke with cane sugar. My husband had the chorizo tacos—incredible—and the beans and rice were also delicious and delicately made. Wholesome, delicious, and did I mention AFFORDABLE??? Service was excellent, and they serve beer and liquor as well. Next time I’m definitely having a Michelada to cool down! Enjoy this amazing...
