To be honest, this tavern is as good if not better than some of the trendy bars and restaurants in Scottsdale. Additionally, I've been to many restaurant and club openings in Phoenix/Scottsdale over the last few years. Those openings were completely unorganized, chaotic, and awful. For Lookout being open for barely 2 weeks, I couldn't believe how well put together everything was. BRAVO to management! An occasional long wait for service or some occasional cold fries is all part of opening a new restaurant. However, we have been here 2 times so far and did not have any issues.
The decor and layout gives the tavern a very modern, open, but comfortable feel. Beautiful lighting, TVs everywhere, killer sound system. Talk about a great location to watch football and other sporting events. They even used a fog machine one of the nights. Had such a blast!
The staff is extremely friendly even with all the pressure that comes with opening a new restaurant. The first night we had a server named Chelsea and a few days later we had Kirstyn. Both were super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. Again, that only happens due to good Management. Talking about management, they really had their act together and made us feel like they really cared about what they've built. We met two of the managers. I believe their names were Todd and Luis. Super friendly, very open to suggestions, looking to improve anyway they can. So refreshing to see that! They even comped 2 drinks for my fiance and me because it was our anniversary. Thank you guys! Also had the opportunity to meet the owner Kevin. Very kind, appreciative, and dedicated to the tavern.
The food was delicious. I would recommend the Tequila lime chicken, waffle fries (A MUST) and the Buffalo bites. Extremely favorable and filling. Also, try their Crazy Arnold drink. It's to die for. Their bar manager Kris is extremely talented. I was told he created most of the drinks on the menu.
Bottom line, Lookout Tavern is awesome. The area has NOTHING like this place and I definitely want to see it succeed. Definitely worth checking out because I think most people will agree with my review. Keep up the great work everyone! Welcome to the...
Read moreThe food was good and they were playing good music but our waitress kept "forgetting" to get back with us with some of our orders like drinks, refills, even a to go box through out the night. She didn't mention that with a party of 6 the tip was automatic so she ended up getting a $50 tip on a 175 bill. They don't give you a paper receipt unless you ask for it. Which is why we didn't see the added tip until after we gave her the added tip. Apparently, after we walked out, my daughter and her girlfriend went back in because they had such a good time and they wanted to continue having a good time. There was some other patrons that started giving them a hard time and calling security on them. The security kept harassing them and taking the word of the other patrons. The security guy could easily have stood back and seen that it was the other patrons giving the girls a hard time. The security guy ended up kicking my daughter and her girlfriend out! Before they left they talked to the manager and let him know what just happened to them. He apologized profusely and told them they could stay but by that time the feeling was gone. They just wanted the manager to know what their first experience at his restaurant was. It was a good time but some of the workers need a refresher course on customer service no matter who they are what...
Read moreI recently came here for the first time earlier this week for date night. It’s crazy to believe that in the 5+ years Lookout Tavern has been open I’d never visited before up until now.
We ordered some appetizers; including their nachos and some mozzarella sticks. The food was alright but I was really looking forward to trying one of their burgers, which came with impossible meat as a substitution- I’ll have to try it the next time I’m here. I liked the open floor plan and that it seemed like it was a somewhat family friendly place. Service was great as well, despite that it was very busy the night we were there.
My main complaint, however; was that we were seated at a booth that was right in front of one of the large projector TV’s that was playing sports. The TV wasn’t necessarily the issue, as my complaint is more about the noise; mainly how loud it was while we were there. Between the sports announcers on TV and the guy speaking loudly into the microphone inside the restaurant every 5 minutes, it was difficult for me to understand and communicate with the other person I was with - which was very annoying. I hope in the future that there are more options for quiet seating areas available, because this place has some room for improvement. It’s hard to say whether or not I would be open to coming back...
