Update: DO NOT GO HERE these people are liars and do not uphold their promises to their customers. As mentioned I was put on hold and told my card was fully refunded. Upon checking my account today my refund had not only not been processed, my account had been debited the full amount. When calling to speak with the manager after not receiving a call back from the owner as promised, I was told that she never refunded my card at all because the owner decided he did not want to. Not only did I not receive a phone call from the owner as requested in regards to the incident I did not receive a phone call informing me that they would not be processing my refund at all (even though as mentioned I was told by Alexandria this was already completed upon hanging up the phone). Today she told me I had to bring the food (that I threw away) back in order to get a refund which was not only not conveyed to me in the first place (I even explained originally I was unable to come back and nothing was said at this time), they did not even take the time to call me with the number I provided. Again I was told I would get a call back “within 5 minutes” and again I did not receive a call back.
A long time ago I would have give this place 5 stars but the last handful of recent visits have me extremely disappointed. From the food, to the service, to the extremely rude attitudes of the employees I went from going multiple times a week to maybe once a month. After today’s visit and multiple attempts at hoping things would be better the next time, I will no longer be eating here. For starters the last 4-5 times the food has become excessively salty to the point where it is almost inedible. More often than not I take my food to go and without fail my order has been wrong every time. It doesn’t seem to matter whether or not I order online or call it in without fail the order is wrong. Today I even had the lady repeat my order multiple times until it was read back correctly in hopes of avoiding the inevitable. This of course didn’t help. When I arrived there was only 1 register open for a line of 7 people. There were plenty of people in the back and while many employees walked to the front not a single person offered to step in and help defeating the whole purpose of saving time by ordering ahead for pick up. When I got home and opened my burritos I immediately called to request a full refund for my order as I was unable to return to pick up my correct order. Alexandria, the manager was incredibly rude and began to make excuses. She tried to hang up saying she would take care of it later when I insisted on staying on hold until my refund was completed. When I mentioned I was a frequent customer and would no longer be giving my business to Phoenix burrito house her response was ok. Not even an apology for my inconvenience and incorrect food was given. Extremely disappointing given I have referred countless people to this small business. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere where they are grateful to have you as a customer, the employees are hard working and respectful, and the food is consistently good as you will not...

My observations: the chips I was given were so stale that my dog would not eat them.
They switched back to styrofoam containers from plastic and reduced the amount of Guacamole they give with the $8 Chips, salsa, and Guacamole by at about one third.
The Guacamole was not sweet today and may have been mixed with Jalapeno oil. It seemed to have a minimal amount of spice to it, I'd call it a hint of spice, my palette enjoys Trinidad Scorpion and Carolina Reapers so take that with a grain of salt, you might find it spicy if you don't like heat from peppers.
The limes given with the fish tacos were dry, aside from that, the fish tacos were really good.
The salsa is as good as ever with plenty of acid, I think it is the best salsa around.
Original review:
Compared to other Mexican restaurants nearby, PHX Burrito House charges a premium for their food.
The burritos are okay however, the fish tacos are excellent.
The salsa is really good and they recently changed to plastic containers for the salsa and guacamole. This is a good thing because I accidentally left the salsa in the provided styrofoam cup in the fridge and the salsa is acidic enough that the styrofoam dissolved.
I recommend that you explore the menu and try the tacos.
The guacamole is a little thicker than ketchup but definitely thinned and sweetened with something... perhaps agave? Aside from being sweet it is the typical guacamole that I've found is common in Phoenix.
I'll be back for fish tacos and to buy the salsa to go. The salsa in my opinion is really flavorful and adds a lot to any Mexican food, it's not spicy to me. My preferred heat level is a blend of Scorpion peppers, in a sauce that is around...
Read moreNot sure how to give it a 2.5 stars so I will give it a two. Franchesca is nice and just needs to smile a little but the owner(I think he was the owner) is very friendly. I told her though that I read the reviews stating that you cannot taste the meat with all of those beans so I asked for them to not put too many beans in my burrito. So let's bullet point this thing shall we.
Carnitas Burrito with everything in it: Pros: Fresh, good quality tortilla Beans, however dominant they were, were pretty good Good portion and size for the price. About Filiberto's size Not dry or overly soggy
Cons: Still too much beans and I could barely taste the carnitas Gringo style salsa that was a bit watery and bland Had almost enough salt but no flavor Barely any cheese No fixin's like cilantro, onions, tomatoes...at least have some onions and cilantro because that would have helped the boring burrito out overcooked rice
Also, there were no Mexicans eating there so maybe that means it is a burrito with Mexican simplicity but slightly catered to Americans. I would rather eat at Taco Mich, Ta Carbon (simple but flavored), and the burrito spots near me that serve more flavorful food. If you are going to specialize in something then kill it! Maybe simplicity sells? I dunno. It wasn't horrible because the food was fresh, hot, and filling, but DEFINITELY nothing special. Maybe that is why I am being critical because for that to be their "thing" it...
