So Glad To Have The Gladly
I went to The Gladly 4 years ago for Mother's Day and it was incredible, so much so that I decided I wanted to enjoy that amazing chopped salad for my birthday this year.
I called because I wasn't sure if they were doing curbside pickup and Danielle happily informed me they'd be happy to fulfill my birthday wish! Danielle went over some menu items and I decided on the short ribs and chopped salad, which were prepared to perfection and left me in a food coma!
When I picked up my order I was wished a happy birthday by the gentleman who brought it out, which was a really pleasant surprise. Once home, I found inside the bag a birthday card signed by all the staff members and cookies!!! Let me tell you, this is how you go above and beyond! I got a little misty eyed, I couldn't believe the kindness of these strangers, and the cookies were delicious, too. I had to call back and tell Danielle how their kindness really made my birthday special! I hope the management reads this review and sees what great people they have working for them!
I've already mentioned the food, but it bears mentioning again that the short ribs were tender, delectable, and had a crust just begging for that amazing cherry reduction barbecue sauce! The parsnip puree was creamy and flavorful and the broccoli still had a little snap to it.
Oh! And don't get me started on the chopped salad because I could find a thesaurus and lay down adjectives for days! This salad is unequivocally perfect. The "OG chopped salad" is my all time, hands down, ultimate favorite fancy food! The ingredients all dance on your tongue in perfect harmony, each bite a flavor combination all its own, and you never feel uncomfortably full even after eating the ENTIRE salad! The dressing really adds to the flavor, which if you read the list of ingredients seems rather impossible, but try it and you'll see it's true. I could keep going, but just go try it and find your own...
Read moreI was looking for a nice place with great ambiance for my birthday. A friend advised we go to the gladly and after looking at pictures and the menu it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. I’m a bourbon fan and was happy to see how many options they had. I ended up with a Manhattan (my first ever at the age of 44) and it was delicious. We had two other people show up unexpectedly and the restaurant easily accommodated them. We had the crudo and shrimp cocktail to start- the shrimp were jumbo and the crudo was fresh and flavorful. I had the field greens salad which was perfectly dressed and the almonds and raisins complemented the greens and dressing. One of our party mentioned they wanted a sidecar and we all thought that was a great idea so we each got a Hennessy XO sidecar. I was a bit skeptical since I’ve rarely had a well made sidecar. They’re usually too tart or off balance in some other way. These were delicious. Refreshing. I ordered the scallops for my entree without bacon (I don’t eat meat) and I couldn’t have been happier. The scallops were cooked to perfection and went well with the creamy corn grits and sautéed greens. I scraped my plate. For dessert we chose the bread pudding and snickers cake. I ate them both together and was more than happy. I have a huge sweet tooth and thought them to be an exceptional ending to the meal. I have a te fancy to suck down water and the SA was constantly refilling my water before it was even half empty. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Great experience...
Read moreI was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I can see being single and/or working in nearby and want to meet up with friends and be at a cool place then this would work. The bar was packed and had a upscale vibe. The interior of the restaurant on a Saturday night was very loud. We chose to sit outside. Servers were attentive and nice. My biggest issue was with the food. Be prepared for $22 dollars and up per glass of wine by the way. My husband ordered sausage and pretzel. What arrived was a small roll with four slices of a regular kielbasa and extremely large chunks of cheddar cheese. I got the burrata which I order any chance I can get and it was mediocre at best. Bland, and the pistachio pesto overwhelmed the palette. When we went I order dinner we were told by the server that they cannot cook their meat any rarer than medium and suggest medium well. What?! I like my burgers rare and I get it that’s not everyone’s taste but you have a $68 special of NY strip and you’re going to hammer that to medium? No pink? At that point I wanted to leave but we stayed and I ordered a salad. My husband got the burger and his side salad had more happening than my entree salad. It was literally lettuce and drunken cherries with 4 ridiculously small and of course overdone pieces of steak. The salad was screaming for acidity so I asked for some cherry tomatoes which I got three of in a ketchup cup. Wow. Truly unfortunate. We will not be...
