The Camby was amazing. I drove in from Las Vegas for a quick overnight stay so could attend a housewarming party. My rental car was messed up in Las Vegas, so I ended up being delayed by a few hours. Due to the delay, I had to drive directly to the party and needed to hold off on checking in. I called the hotel and they were more than helpful. They expressed care and concern over my drive and promised someone would be at the front desk at midnight for me to check in late. When I arrived, the valet gentleman was kind and extraordinarily helpful. The hotel is at the same location as the old Ritz Carlton in the Biltmore area. It has had a lovely makeover, artistically unique and en vogue, as one would expect from an Autograph property, but retains some of that classic Ritz charm. The furnishings in the lobby are clean and modern. I missed one of the coolest elements of the hotel due to my late arrival...the check-in jam session! They had a couple of acoustic guitars still out from earlier in the evening, so saddened I missed that. The customer service at check-in was exemplary, as they took the time to see to all of my needs ans provide information about the property, including an overview of the hotel design as it is based upon Arizona's five Cs: copper, citrus, climate, cattle, and cotton. There is attention paid to every detail throughout the property from the elevators to the rooms. My room was extraordinarily clean, stylish, and extremely comfortable. I especially appreciated the lighting options to create a relaxing ambiance, including the floor lamp, the ultra hip blue cow skull lamp with "Moo!" projection, and the reading lamps on the bed. On top of the lighting choices, there is a gorgeous copper colored section of the ceiling above the bed, which adds to the lighting ambiance, as it reflcts the light adding warmth to the room. The quirkiness of the art didn't detract from the ambiance, but added to it as a modern reflection of the Southwest. The bed was super comfortable...in fact, I was more than bummed out when I had to get up the next morning. I was ready to sleep for two days straight! My biggest regret of this trip was not being able to use the pool. It is only open feom 10 until 8, so I missed my opportunity. If there was one thing I would change about the hotel, it would be the pool hours. Granted I got in too late the night before, but 8 pm is way too early to close--Phoenix in the summer is all about night swimming!! Opening the pool at 10 makes it challenging, too, as check- out is at 11:00. So, I had a choice: an hour of swimming or breakfast at the Artizen. I chose breakfast. The breakfast choices were fabulous and the food was divine. I noted to my server that I was driving back across the desert, and she made me a coffee to go. This type of service seems to be part of the culture on the property. Even the valet offered bottles of water and a smile as I headed back home. I wish I could have stayed one extra night to enjoy more of the hotel experience, but I will definitely be back. If a six star option for rating existed, the...
Read moreMy company hosted a Sales Kick-Off Conference at the hotel. I would have liked to have seen an airport shuttle to the hotel. However; from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt like I was in an upscale environment. Since this was a company trip, I was expecting that the room incidentals to be added to the corporate credit card that the room was booked under. It wasn't. The decor was modern. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean & comfortable. There was a great deal of outdoor seating. The best way to thaw out from Charlotte. We had meetings all day & an assortment of drinks were always provided. It would have been nicer if the chairs were more comfortable. There were some technical difficulties with the sound system. In between meetings, there were lovely displays of finger foods. I think the chocolate for the churros could have been better if it was warm. The pineapple water was refreshing. I enjoyed being able to get out into the Arizona sunshine to soak in the climate after a long day of meetings. Everything was easy to find. The tvs all around the hotel provided an itinerary for the day. There was no need to keep track of the time. It was a nice touch to be greeted at dinner with a glass of wine. The shower was upscale, as were the toiletries provided. The beds were very comfortable. On a down side, the cleaning staff removed my hangers from the room that I had brought with me to hang the clothes in my garment bag. I loved that they projected the NCAA Final Football game, Alabama vs. Georgia on the wall over the pool. My company booked the area for dinner. The buffet dinner both nights were exquisite. The mushroom risotto was excellent. I didn't feel that I was forced into eating something I didn't prefer. There was a varied selection to choose from. I also enjoyed the wine selections. The full breakfast provided was varied & delicious. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the continental breakfast on the last day was sub-par. The potatoes were not cooked & there selection was limited. In addition, the boxed lunch provided was lackluster. The bread was chewy & the meats were not of the quality I had been receiving the entire time. The smoking sections were easy to find & accessible. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who will be visiting Phoenix. I will also seek out more Autograph Collection hotels, as this is a step up from the Marriotts that I...
Read moreOur family (2 adults and 2 kids aged 16 and 9) stayed at the Camby for 3 nights as part of the Phoenix leg of our Arizona trip. We booked a double room with mountain views and went for the hotel as the luxury part of our trip especially as we were arriving there straight after our arrival flight from the UK. ||The hotel is in a good location about 20 minutes drive from the airport and the area is in Biltmore which is a great location, very upmarket with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. In particular, the Biltmore Fashion Park is walking distance across the road accessed via a very convenient underpass and as well as shops there were nice places to eat there as well. ||Lobby decor is very nice and felt 5 star but our biggest disappointment was our room which was tired with fraying carpet, a broken shower and worst of all a bad musty smell in the room. We spoke to the front desk around this and they sent someone to fix the shower but despite a request to deep clean the room the smell never went away. I think we were unlucky with this particular room rather than all the rooms being this way but definitely not the quality you would expect in a 5 star hotel. There were other things in the room that just weren't well designed (lack of side tables, fridge just sitting out on the floor) which contributed to the let down.||The hotel has a pool area on the 1st floor which is nicely done with views of the nearby city view and a decent amount of seating, but the pool is tiny. Luckily most of the time we went it was just my son and I!||There is a restaurant at the hotel which did mainly Mexican, burgers and similar and also serves breakfast - we went a couple of times with meals at about $100 for the 4 of us but found that you could get more reasonably priced better food within walking distance (Breakfast club across the road). Compulsory valet all worked well although you will need to factor the additional $35/night into your costs.||I also was surprised at the lack of other fun options at the hotel for families, they had one movie night at the pool but that was about it.||Overall we were a bit disappointed given we were expected 5 star and only got what I would consider as 3 star - so would struggle to recommend for a family stay - I think you could have had a better experience at some of the other hotel chains not far away where you get a good...
