I have had the pleasure of frequenting this resort a myriad of times both for events and social get togethers, especially the Lobby Grill (Bar) at the Arizona Grand Resort, along with its restaurant Cousin nearby (Aunt Chilada’s), and every visit we make to the Lobby Bar, the same thought permeates my mind… I feel like having walked into the most upscale Denny’s ever! I’m not joking! Between the open-air galley and wood-fire oven (think short order cooks at Denny’s), to their tufted, multi-colored seating, to the open space of the furnishings, it keeps bringing back that memory. Although I may joke, this is a nice place to socialize have a few bites, some very good cocktails and beers. The offerings like Salsa & Guacamole is OK; your typical non-descript Tortilla Chips; a lackluster French Onion Soup with some Gruyere and Swiss cheeses hit the spot somewhat; the Ahi Tuna & Crab Tower are not bad; Lobby Wings have a nice bite but not memorable; an Overpriced New York Strip; a decent French Dip Sandwich; and last, but not least, a somewhat typical Club Sandwich. These have all been experience we’ve had here. Overall, this is not criticism, as we wish we could come back more often. It is a beautiful location to lay back, socialize with friends or your better half, chill with cocktails and/or ale! Both inside and its huge area outside makes for leisurely chilling. For being an upper crust locale, a renowned resort, a marvelous golf course – the reality Arizona Grand Resort unfortunately has only 2 middling culinary establishments within its vicinity (if you count Rustler’s Roost and Aunt Chilada’s, with a mediocre Yelp 3 stars score each). I can live with my memories of Denny’s. But Lobby Grill, I wish, can and should be much better, maybe be a little more avantgarde, more erudite, possibly having a little live music in the background would make this a more pleasant and frequented watering and feeding hole for many of us who live nearby looking for better than franchises, dives and sports bars. Lobby Grill already has some ambience, bring it to another level, add a little character and casual elegance the Grand is worthy of and we know hankering to be. I’ll remain hopeful ‘cause we wanna keep...
Read moreI have been a member of the AZ grand for over a year and have been to the lobby grill maybe twice. Food is decent, view outside is very pleasant and most of my experiences have been lovely. Tonight the hostess was not making any sense and it lead us to leaving hungry and annoyed… half the tables were unoccupied yet they were putting people on a 30 minute waitlist as to not overwhelm the kitchen staff. That’s not great but I can understand being told there is an unexpected wait for the food to be delivered but still seat us with that expectation. Instead she said we could order in the lobby, at the bar but not in the restaurant and the wait for food would be no different. Does that make any sense? I am not a hotel guest, I am a potential frequent customer of this outlet since I live up the hill, why am I being told I cannot be seated in this 50% occupied restaurant because “she needs to honor others on the waitlist”…. (EYE ROLL) why aren’t they seated with a set expectation that food will take y-x amount of time? The tickets from the bar or lounge still go to the same kitchen so how is that my only solution? I would like a managers number to be convinced why I should ever return after being told no with all due logic on my side…. I have 5 star hospitality management experience in Manhattan, this sleepy resort clearly doesn’t know how to handle increased traffic or prepare for it… now I understand why this hotel oddly enough has no fine dining outlet, also...
Read moreWow with 4 kids keeping us busy, I don’t think I’ve taken the time in years to write a bad review . This experience justifies taking the time. 25 minutes after we were seated, we had not yet seen the waiter to get drink orders. By the time he arrives ( does apologize IF we were waiting as in wasn’t really sure but probably guessed based on our faces alone) takes all of our orders for drinks and meals bc our kids were now losing patience. 45 mins- 1 hour goes by for 2 kids Mac and cheeses, a grilled cheese, burger and salad. My entree Caesar Salad is bone dry and there is about ZERO green to my lettuce , and before I can turn around to ask for dressing the bussers are gone , our waiter did not come back for another 25 mins to check on us so my salad just sat uneaten. Finally he arrives to check on us, ask him for extra dressing. Another 15 minutes later, recieved, As we were paying our bill. I literally took my dinner home in a box and ate it in my room. I am in the hospitality industry and know about staffing shortages but this type of service just seemed out of lack of caring and sense or urgency. Food was also awful. I have NEVER seen my husband turn away a burger , last night was a first. We are staying at the property as we do multiple times a year and will figure out some way some how to avoid this place...
