On 08-21-2020 at 1542 hours, I took a break from the daily grind, and stopped at Waffle House #315 at 1801 West Baseline Road, Guadalupe, Arizona 85283. Due to pandemic restrictions, half of the dine-in seating was closed but, I didn’t let that deter my appetite. I ordered the classic Steak and Eggs. Eggs +2, Scrambled-Wet, Soft Hash Browns, 2-slices of Raisin “Bread”, and Steak (Medium Rare). The drink is Coke, easy on the ice. *The waitress was attentive, but not overly intense. The cook was receptive to my requests, and appeared inspired to the challenge. Both were happy to oblige the order. And, when delivered, -it was as close to perfect as I had requested. The check was $15.11, and I tipped $6.00.
Compared to other Waffle House locations I’ve sampled so far in my search for a regular weekly spot,... -and Yes, I've been to ALL of them. It may have been a question of a “zombie” cook doing every order like a machine based on the average ticket, mis-reading or ignoring the “special requests” of the order, the waitress unable to convey, communicate, or mandate the “details” of the order to the cook, one or the other not caring about customer requests,... -or all of the above. Who knows? But EVERY Customer should be treated as if, Walt Ehmer is the name on the ticket.
If you're in Phoenix on business, or a local like myself,... wherever you are in the valley, -if you’ve got a craving for Southern ‘style Steak and Eggs from Waffle House,... it would definitely be worth the drive, wait or delivery fee to get your food from Waffle House #315 at 1801 West Baseline Road, Guadalupe,...
Read moreJoJo, our server, was not on point at all. When my friend's drink was vnot in stock" our server NEVER even offered to get her another drink or even water! So for the entire visit, my friend had NO DRINK!!! JoJo brought us food from someone else's order as well as the food item my friend & I were discussing but did NOT order. Once she cleared our plates, our server was done with us. She never came back to offer refills or a To Go box. I had to ask another server for a box & a 3rd server had offered my drink refill at the end. Though JoJo did NOT deserve a tip, I still left one albeit a small one.
Che, the 3rd server, was very nice & tried to remove items from the check but I said no.
Don't get the breakfast steak. It has almost no flavor & gets cold faster than your eggs. The chili covered hash browns were good BUT the "smothered" with cheese ... Really?! It was ONE slice of processed American cheese in the middle on top. It didn't smother anything.
Oh, and the cook declared loudly that he "made the food with aggravation because that's how I feel". So that makes me feel comfortable about eating there... Not! Even though he said that about someone else's order... The entire place could hear him.
I have had better experiences at...
Read moreOk food. Typical diner menu. Bad service. Very slow and chaotic. The manager was barking orders at a wait staff that seemed like they were all clueless. Maybe they were all new. Had to ask for ordered items multiple times. Waitresses asked multiple customers what they ordered after they took their order. The manager is counseling staff in front of customers because there is no privacy for the staff and they were rushing all around. I felt sorry for the manager and staff because the archaic system of how they take your order and then shout it to the cooks is so disorganized and ripe for mistakes. I'm not sure if it's done this way to be quaint and nostalgic but it is so disorganized. They write the orders on some menu scratch pad of boxes to be checked and then they later write all of the prices on the ticket and hand that to you as your bill. Try to decipher that! Waitress apologized multiple times for the delay. Told us that a server was out and the manager was on the phone when they needed something from her to make one of our meals. Not sure what. Whoever manages the systems and organization of how these restaurants function needs to spend some time in one at a busy time. It wouldn't take long to see the...
