What a great addition to the Pinecrest area! Although I am not Mexican, I have been to a few authentic Mexican spots in Homestead and other parts of South Florida like Loxahatchee and Clewiston, where the cooks and workers were Mexican and I'd say this place is authentic and delicious. The customer service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. My daughter and I were welcomed in with open arms and a smile despite the restaurant closing within 45 minutes of our arrival. We were never rushed out and the only time the waiter would come near was to make sure we didn't need anything or to refill our drinks. Complimentary chips were brought to the table and it is my understanding that you can get free refills, though we were too full at the end to ask for more. No wonder this place was bustling, despite being close to 11 PM.
The food was very tasty and we were full with 3 tacos each, 1 quesadilla each and a dessert we split. The passionfruit mousse is delicious, I'd say it's a must, except I have not tried the other flavors. I love how they have a wide selection of sauces for all taste buds, and how they are labeled according to spice level. The guacamole salsa was a favorite as was their spiciest one, which I believe was the salsa asada. Since you have your own assortment of salsa per table, you never have to fight someone at the salsa bar nor do you have to get up constantly to get more salsa. The squirt bottle concept is great and I wish other places would adapt this too. I will have to ask if these are for sale, would love to take some home to dip chips into when snacking. I should have taken photos of my meal, but I was too hungry and the food smelled so good, I only paused to take a photo...
Read moreI actually want to give this place a 3.5 not a 3. I will say the food was really good. The lengua needs to be seasoned a bit better, but the cheeks were really great, and the al pastor was really flavorful. I'd recommend those 2. The chicken was good and the steak coulda also used a lil more. But overall the food was great, I do recommend people going to try it. I did like the vibe of the place also. My negatives were that ( and it may not be everyone, just this visit) our waitress wasn't the most attentive. I usually don't care if service is good or bad bad we asked her for water 3 times. And she never brought it. We asked another waitress and she never came back as well. Someone finally brought us water as we were getting ready to leave. All the food came before the water. Aside from that my only lil complain is that the natural drinks as good as they are. If I'ma pay 5 dollars for them, you kinda expect a bigger drink like in many other Mexican spots. I feel that's a bit of nickel and dime in that one. But overall it's a great place. It really is. I will be coming back, I know someone can have a bad day. But I just post my experiences is all. Oh and personally the best sauces were the salsa verde and the salsa guac....
