Gabriele's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Piscataway Township

This place is RACIST! and the bartenders are THIEVES ! On Friday January 26 2024 I went to Gabriel’s for happy hour after work for some appetizers and drinks to decompress and unwind. Before taking my order the bartender stated that she needed my card to open my tab. I then gave her my chase card , when it was time to pay she said I can either pay cash or with the card that I used to open my tab .I decided to pay her cash instead ;she gave me my change back ,without returning my chase card . I said excuse me you forgot to return my debit card , she said oh I’m sorry and then gives me another customer’s credit card named Deborah. I said I’m sorry miss you gave me the wrong card , My name is Natalie not Deborah.; She had a lost and confused look on her face and then asked me “ you are not Deborah ?“ I said no! My name is Natalie I gave you a blue chase debit card . After looking through the cards that she had in her possession she said I do not have your card and then went on to lie saying I never gave her a card . I demanded to speak to her manager, her manager was very dismissive and spoke to me in a very aggressive and hostile tone stating we do not have your card. I said my name is not Deborah she gave me the wrong customers card , your employee is either running a scam or she accidentally gave a customer my card . Guess what happened next ! One of the women at the bar over hears the conversation and yells “ I’m Deborah and I have a gold debit card” I said see your staff is incompetent, the bartender accidentally gave me another customer’s card! The manager then yells at me demanding that I leave the establishment, and when I said refused to leave until the matter was resolved she then proceeds to call the cops on me ! Within 2 minutes around 6 officers arrive for me I’m one black woman! Why 6 officers? The officers were all white and was totally dismissive to what I had to say and stated the manager doesn’t want me back claiming that I was loud and causing a scene ( which was a LIE) and stated if I returned i will be arrested for Trespassing. I couldn’t believe the manager had the audacity to make such an erroneous claim . Long story short the officers said they couldn’t find my card and for me to just call my bank and cancel the card . Today was My 1st time at the establishment. We celebrated my grandmother's 80th birthday. My party consisted of 22 people. My waitress name was Queen, she was excellent and very attentive. She took down everyone's order and repeated it to us all. Although when our food began to come out I noticed that mine was still missing. I ordered a appetizer & a entree, & so did others in our party. They all received their appetizer & entree except for me I only received my appetizer. I brought it to her attention and she told me that it would be right out. Three other people at the table ordered the same thing as me. So I asked once my food came out if I can speak to the manager because I couldn't understand why mine was delayed. She, (Donna) came out & I explained everything to her & also explained that it was not the waitress fault that she was very good. She came back after speaking to the waitress to find out what happened & said that it was because the waitress put my appetizer in 1st & put my entree in last. I've then explained to her that it was other members of my party that also ordered a appetizer and entree & they received both of their items at once. She then told me that she would take something off of my order or compensate me with a complimentary dessert. I explained to her that I did not want a desert & she said ok. Once the bill came out our bill was $569, but I noticed that nothing was taken off of my portion of my bill. I then asked her if she could talk to the manager & show her that she didn't take anything off for my portion. She then came back & told me that the manager said that she gave my grandmother a free dessert. I explained to her that I did not want a desert & that the portion was coming off of my portion of the bill, so I didn't understand why she would give a complimentary dessert to someone else in the party. My total came to $73 my food that was late was $20. She then came back & said ok, we took $10 off but I could tell that she did not want to even do that. Although the food was good well my appetizer at least, because once my food came out I was no longer hungry. This was my 1st & last time ever going to this establishment. They're too many establishments that have better management attitudes, & that I wouldn't have a problem spending $569 at. Then to have to go through this again....

First of all I would like to give credit where credit is due, the food was good and the ambiance was great. They had ample parking and decent space. However I had my baby shower there this past Saturday and I had an rsvp list of 45 people I paid for 40 people and I didn’t make it a no kids event because kids were allowed. So as the shower went on and more people arrived the adults were taking up some space at the bar while ordering and tipping LARGE TIPS BTW! The bartender stated you wouldn’t need to be at the bar if there were just 40 people. She began counting silverware that was being asked for and mad that we needed extra plates! My issue is paid for the people that we went over which was 45 and 15 kids keep in mind my menu wasn’t kids friendly so the kids didn’t eat but I paid it anyway! I spent $2000 and thanks to my planner we enjoyed the night without any hiccups. However the BARTENDER HAD A FULL TIP CONTAINER EVEN WITH $20s IN IT AS FAR AD IM CONCERN I SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOT THE FEED BACK ON HER COSTUMER SERVICE! AFTER ALL I WAS A PAYING CUSTOMER WITHOUT ANY COMPLAINTS ON THE OVERAGE CHARGER PLUS ADDITIONAL SERVICE FEES THAT I PAID ALREADY. I am preparing for an engagement party and would’ve really considered having it there but.... that was a huge turn off! I hope in the future situations like mine are...
