As a self-proclaimed taco enthusiast who has explored taco joints from coast to coast, I can confidently say that Moreno's Taqueria stands head and shoulders above the rest. This place has captured my heart, and here's why:
I'm originally from CA, and my taco journey has taken me through SOCAL, CENCAL, NORCAL, TX, NM, AZ, NYC, CHICAGO, and even Mexico itself. But Moreno's Taqueria has a special place in my heart because they treat you like family from the moment you walk in. The owner and staff have mastered the art of making every guest feel valued and at home.
Now, let's talk about the food. It's more than just food; it's a labor of love and passion. Every dish at Moreno's Taqueria is crafted with care and dedication, and it truly shines through in the flavors. As someone who has a deep love for tacos, I've sampled them far and wide, and Moreno's sits with my TOP 3!
My personal favorites include their queso birria (beef) tacos, which are an absolute delight. The flavors burst in your mouth with each bite. And let's not forget the asada tacos; they are perfection on a plate. But it's not just the meats; their rice and beans are on point too.
If you have the chance, don't miss their menudo on weekends. It's the perfect comfort food that warms your soul.
I have a special connection to Moreno's Taqueria because when I was stationed at Vandenberg SFB, CA, finding a taco spot that met my expectations was surprisingly challenging. Moreno's not only met those expectations but exceeded them in every way.
To sum it up, Moreno's Taqueria is a taco lover's paradise. The warmth of the staff, the exceptional quality of the food, and the overall experience make it a must-visit. My family and friends know about my love for tacos, and Moreno's Taqueria is where I proudly take them to experience the best.
Thank you, Moreno's Taqueria, for setting the bar so high and consistently delivering outstanding tacos. You've won a devoted fan...
Read moreI think these are the best tacos I’ve had so far in my whole life. I got the fish taco, the asada, and because the reviews were good - the queso birria.
All three tacos were executed perfectly in taste and texture. They do not skip out on toppings and clearly have an understanding of the balance between seasoning, heat control during cooking, and usage of ingredients.
I ate the asada first, which was bursting with real flavor (and not just saltiness, which I find too often in most cuisine across America). The meat was also quite moist.
I had the fish taco next, which was one big mountain of fried fish and toppings. I was most impressed with how hot yet moist and fleshy the fish was when I bit into it, two sure signs that the oil was hot when they cooked it and that they used the appropriate amount of batter.
Finally, I saved the queso birria for last. I’m so glad I got this. I actually got a second one because it was so good. Where do I start? The taco shell was part soft and partially crisped, which lended a beautiful mouthfeel. It comes with a generous amount of consommé which adds more aroma and a slight bit of heat. This bit of fattiness is delicately balanced by the acidity from the lime. The filling itself is out of this world, and has just the right amount of cheesiness (without overpowering). The meat is incredibly tender and moist, and is bursting with flavour. I hope you can see why I had to order a second one.
In addition, they are very attentive in their service, more than other restaurants I have encountered in the central California coast. They show that they care about your experience here in both the food and customer service.
They definitely know what they are doing here. Worth returning and...
Read moreIt's a taqueria so it's not fine dining but it's good. We were craving a good breakfast burrito and initially went to a place that had 2k reviews and highly rated. We asked the server if they had handmade tortillas and when he said no, we got up and walked right out of there. When we initially got the Moreno's there was a little bit of a kitchen back up back luckily it cleared out by the time our food got out through. It didn't take long at all. BEST breakfast burrito I've had in a long time. The tortillas were chefs kiss and the filling was plenty and flavorful. I had chorizo and eggs. My wife is vegetarian and she couldn't decide between chilaquiles or a breakfast burrito. We asked the cashier to combine it and make a chilaquiles burrito. She said "sure, we can make it happen". That's what I'm talking about! Wife's burrito was amazing. They provide a green and red salsa which we're both great and added good flavor punches with a mild kick. Would go...
