I genuinely regret not taking pictures of the food that I ordered!
My experience was wonderful! From the moment I called to the moment Iwalked in, everything was great! I called to ask if they served breakfast all day and I was told they served breakfast until 3:00 p.m., which was perfect for me. When I came in, I was greeted and seated right away and my order was taken almost immediately. The waitress brought me a menu and a tall glass bottle of water for me to fill my cup with. I made sure to read over the entire menu, and the menu itself states that all of the food is prepared from scratch so it will take some time for my food to get to my table. Because of this, I ended up ordering the Sultan's coffee to start, which came with a fildzhan of coffee as well as Turkish delight and Baklava - all served in Turkish dishes and plating, it was gorgeous and felt right at home. I ordered the Menemen - a dish of fresh diced tomatos, green pepper, onion, and eggs with a side of bread. I asked to add sudjuk to the Menemen, and let me tell you, it was delicious!!!
The service was great! My waitress was very kind, approachable, and friendly. I was able to talk to her about the dishes, the restaurant, and other small topics in general. She was so kind to bring me extra sweets on the house as well.
I also loved the atmosphere due to all of the Turkish decor and homage that was paid to Turkey. The ambience was beautiful because of the Turkish music and I genuinely felt like I was in Turkey for a moment because even the waitresses spoke Turkish, which is something I think is really important and authentic to a restaurant of any origin.
I genuinely cannot wait to come here again, and actually take pictures of...
Read moreI stood at the door for about 10-15 minutes waiting to be seated. I asked the people seated at the table closest to the door if I was supposed to wait to be seated since the waiters saw me, but no one approached me. They said that you are supposed to wait.
I was with my 5-year-old son at the front door. He had wanted french toast after his theatre class. The waitstaff saw me because they made eye contact with me. They finished cleaning some tables and then they went into the back. Not once did they gesture to a table for us to be seated or come over to say anything.
A couple of women entered behind me after I'd been waiting (either middle eastern or white) and they were seated immediately, literally while I was standing right there.
I did not see any other black people in the establishment, so perhaps that this is the only reason that I was not seated. My son was not disruptive or loud and we were dressed appropriately, not unclean or slovenly. The two people seated at the table closest to the door said that people don't usually wait as long as my son and I waited.
I left when the people who entered after me were seated immediately since my son and I apparently were not welcome.
Edited to respond to the owner:
No, thank you. The two women who came in after us, and did not seat themselves, looked at us. The waitress who seated those women literally looked directly at me. The staff who were cleaning the tables looked directly at me before they left the serving area. The other customers in your restaurant looked directly at me. There was no "missing" my son and me. Your workers let us stand there and wait around until I finally accepted that we were not going...
Read moreA “please seat yourself” sign might be a good thing here? When I asked the person at the counter for a table, they asked me to order standing up at the counter, which I did: a breakfast entree and a salad. Then I took a seat an open table.
Some diners that arrived after me were brought menus and enjoyed ordering from their table. Ok, fair enough. They also received a water bottle and water glass before I did.
My entree and salad then came out to my table without utensils or a napkin. They were brought to me “a few moments later.” I had to ask for water a second time, even though I did ask for water when I ordered at the counter.
The salad was somewhat dry and underdressed although the chopped nuts were a nice touch.
The yolks in the over easy eggs could have been a bit runnier, but that’s a personal preference and it’s not like I ordered it that way. The sliced baguette bread was fresh and high quality.
I usually don’t tip for food I order standing up, but I did tip modestly this time, even though the service wasn’t great.
I would consider coming back for a return visit.
10/13/2025 update: response to the management’s response to my review: I’m not quite sure why your server would think I wanted to order take-out since I mentioned in the 2nd sentence of my review above that I asked the server for a table, and indicated to them that I...
