It's with great regret that I must write this review. Honestly, the place is fantastic if you just want to grab a drink and sit outside during the summer. However, food-wise, much to be desired... The order took a long time to come in, despite there being no rush whatsoever. Maybe a good 30 min? When we asked the waiter what one of the Spanish food items were, they barely knew. The food.. oh wow. For Boston/NYC prices, we got unseasoned tacos (barely any toppings just shredded meat and sad onions), cold, stale tortillas, and unseasoned cilantro rice. (Chipotle does it better to be honest). Expensive guac and chips, with the ratio being off, not nearly enough chips for the amount of guac. With the high number of great Mexican/Latin restaurants in Pittsburgh, this place seems lacking. Tacayo, Baby loves Tacos, and even Madero Cantina are better eats (and drinks) with better prices. Hopefully this place will get better with time, since the location...
Read moreWe haven't been back to Buenatarde for a long time, but our experience left much to be desired. The pros are definitely the food, I thought the tacos especially the al pastor were quite good, and our waitress was nice.
The cons, well, it was a nice sunny day but for some reasons they kept trying to sit us in the deepest darkest corner of the restaurant, and the menu pricing is quite confusing, so be prepared to pay more than what you think you are going to pay.
What left a sour taste in my mouth was that when we left, we forgot to bring our leftovers with us, but realized literally 2 minutes after we left the restaurant (it wasn't even half a block). We ran back and were told that they already threw away the food, and everyone acted like it wasn't a big deal and I felt like I was ridiculous to even expect the food to be kept for us for those...
Read moreThis place is owned by the owners of El Sabor I believe, and I really enjoyed El Sabor, so I decided to give this spot a try. Wow. It did not disappoint! Wayyy better than Chipotle. I got to try their BYO bowl with yellow rice, cheese, yucca bites, sweet plantains, and sweet and spicy chipotle sauce. I also threw in one of their tres leches cake slices.
Everything was pretty much perfect, even without a protein! The yucca was perfectly fried and so sweet and flavorful. The yucca was also great and went perfectly with that very balanced, delicious sauce. Even the rice was great! I will say the cheese is a bit rubbery.
The tres leches was also amazing. Solid portion, perfect amount of sweetness, drenched in that delicious milk. Very nice.
All in all, I highly recommend both this place and El Sabor for the fresh and delicious...
