They charge you more at the register then on the menu, I pointed that out to the waitress this morning and she tried to lie and say it included tax. It did not, there is tax also charged (see photos). So then she says she can't change it, and still charged me the higher rate. When I took pictures as proof she said "Oh yeah take pictures to rat us out." Well, yes I will because its wrong and you are being sneaky to do this to people because most won't notice until they are done eating. There food is good but you can't be charging more at the register, that is sneaky and wrong even if its only a little per person, it still adds up. I have also forwarded the complaint to the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate.

Awesome diner. I’m not sure why so many mixed or negative reviews exist for this spot. I got to try their very cherry French toast. It was really, really good. Unlike most other places, they don’t skimp on the fruit toppings. Loads of cherries, very sweet (almost excessively so but I still really enjoyed it). And the French toast itself was also really well made. Excellent portion, looked almost like a French toast sandwich. Super great prices for this portion. All in all, I would highly recommend this spot for a tasty and cheap breakfast or brunch in the Pittsburgh area.

Friday for lunch this gem of a place makes a special very authentic Indian/Pakistani dish called chicken biryani. They also place on top pieces of tandoori spiced chicken on the bone. Comes with a generous side of raita (I always get an extra side as it is so tasty). Come hungry as they give you a huge portion. It also comes with a soda or bottled water. I have had many biryanis but this is the real deal. Has to be my favorite chicken biryani in Pittsburgh. Be sure to go early as they run out quickly 😃

Review March 2018: The food is decent, but the lady who picks up the phone.... my God, she must have the most miserable life ever! Forgive me for calling to ask if you still offer something on the menu and how much it costs! Cherries is known to have a biryani special on Fridays, so I wanted to come check it out.... and called to ask if it was still being available. The very rude lady who answered the call didn’t hold back her heavy sigh and disinterested tone when she told me “UGHHHH yeah its here but I’m closing in 15 minutes”. Then I asked how much it was , with another “Ughhh $8 something”. Needless to say, I did not end up going because they clearly don’t need the business. The couple times I’ve eaten breakfast there, the server didn’t do as much as smile. Not exactly the type of “customer service” you would expect from a small business. I should have read the reviews before going there, as many state the server’s obnoxiously rude behavior.

Updated review: Racial profiling at its best. I came in, for biryani attempt #2 after many months. Lady mentioned in above review was on the phone, she looked at me and said “how many”. So she could basically judge what I wanted based on my skin color. Pretty sure if a Caucasian person came in, she wouldn’t assume they want bacon and eggs? Rude. At least have the decency to ask a customer what they want rather than assume. Learn some manners, lady with the short brown hair. Your business increases ten-fold because of an ethnic cuisine offering on Fridays so the least you can do is try to be a little respectful by not being presumptuous. Who...

This restaurant is a place that I’ve been wanting to try for a while and today was the day that I finally decided to try it and I regret it. Due to the authenticity of the place, I thought it was going to be genuine food, but something was horribly wrong. I ordered the meat lovers omelette with French toast and a hot tea. My first bite of the omelette made me slightly nauseous but I thought it was because it was the first thing I ate all day and then I couldn’t finish the meal so I asked for it to go in while I was packing up my order to go. My stomach started to hurt by the time I got home I threw up and poo’d everything I ate from this place and felt way better. I think they gave me food poisoning or A majority of the food was undercooked. I’m not sure, but I don’t throw up food for no reason I love to eat, and the fact that I threw up as soon as I got home from eating at this place states a lot! If you order here please make sure your food is okay. I trusted them and now I’m at home puking...

Food was decent. What was horrible is the communication and customer service. 4 of us went for breakfast on a Saturday and first of all the prices on the menu are incorrect. At the end of our meal, we were told that on weekends they do not split the bill. A visible sign upon entering needs to state this policy, not a small handwritten sign by the cash register that will not be seen by those who sit down and eat because you pay at the table. We were told the total at the table but not provided an itemized check, and when the waitress swiped the card, she tipped herself 30% gratuity without telling us that she was going to. When confronted, she said it is a policy for parties of 4 or more and was very dismissive of our concern. This “policy” is not posted anywhere in the establishment. I called my bank and disputed the $25 that she tipped herself. This establishment is sneaky and dishonest. I suggest going to City Works...
