I ordered from the food truck when it was at Back Alley Brewing. It was a cold, snowy March day. The food was amazing. Perfect for the weather. I ordered the Dilly Dilly with a side of potato leek soup. It was cheesy and Dilly and tasted delicious. We shared the poutine and the pork bites. The poutine order was huge and definitely big enough for a meal for 2. The gravy was flavorful. The pork bites were surprising. They melted in the mouth and the kimchi had a kick but wasn't overwhelming. My partner had the Mclaughlin. He really enjoyed it and his side was the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and tasted like it was made with beer, so it just made it the yummiest. I would highly suggest ordering from the truck if it's in the area or stopping by the restaurant.

My wife and I were at Velum Fermentation(@velumfermentation), where they hosted Pittsburgh's first large zero-proof "Mocktail Mixer". Cold Friends Kitchen is a Velum staple, and they certainly didn't disappoint. (I've had them several times, but their service warrants my review lol) Normally I don't care for augmented burgers, but the fried egg on the HOT SHOT is manageable. It's perfectly seasoned, spicy, but of course, MESSY. Just grab enough napkins and you'll be fine. I'm just a regular PIttsbugher, but I feel compelled to praise Cold Friends Kitchen. Their service is always friendly & fresh, and any wait can be solved with a close NA/real libation from Velum.

This. Food. Is. AMAZING. No matter what you order, you can’t go wrong. There’s something for everyone. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, comfort food, they got it. And it’s DELICIOUS. My go-to is always a smash burger and fries, but I like to treat myself to a loaded poutine or mac n cheese every so often. Check them out!!! Pictured are the McLaughlin sandwich and the Crab Rangoon Dip!

While the food is always a consistent 11/10, sometimes you don’t know if the food or the service/company is better. Whether you’re rocking out and dancing with the guys on Jane St, or hitting up trivia at New Amsterdam on a Wednesday, it’s five stars every single time, either place.

When you have the chance to see any of your Cold Friends, and if you haven’t read about their brilliant story on social media, just ask them. They all are amazing, special, inspiring, EXCEPTION human beings.

As for the food, you’re always going to get nothing but the best out of these guys. The pork belly bites after perfectly prepared, and you’ll think about them for days after. If you’re a pickle lover, the pickle grilled cheese will absolutely hit the spot, and the blackened gold Mac is like a warm (albeit spicy, with its ghost pepper cheese) comforting hug.

But the best item on the menu, the pay if forward meal. For $10.00, you can purchase a meal that these guys keep in their back pocket to help those with food insecurity or battling through homelessness.

Visit the cold friends, and your belly and heart are both going to be...

Now, I could go into a detailed essay about how absolutely lovely and dedicated the cold friends owners are, and how their values, energy, and pay it forward concept keep me coming back time and time again, but that (by a hairline) comes second to how cosmically divine a single pork belly bite is. The sorcery cast upon a bed of kimchi reignites the hope that perhaps we are still capable of original thought, because how in the world did you DO that Gabe? The curry poutine single-handedly cured my hunger both physical and mental; i think of her often. Unfortunately, the second location they’re opening will be significantly closer to my house which is going to become very toxic for me very quickly.

If you weren’t sold already, they...
