Hello again, Today, we talk about the commoner and the far above common food. 1) Service: everyone was very friendly and absolutely amazing individuals, we had a group of three dressed in varied levels of common attire, we had no one sneer or give us odd looks, and were treated perfectly by all staff. We thank the staff for the professionalism of their employees and hope that all staff are treated well. 10/10 2) Atmoshere: You first enter through the connected hotel. Once inside, you will see stairs to your left about 3 short rows leading down into a mellow feeling area, generally calm music playing only loud enough to ease you, not to distract from a conversation, dim lighting, and bar and kitchen lit up so you know where they sre. The bar is well stocked, and the kitchen has open viewing to watch the chefs as they work (as far as i could tell from my vantage point, we chose a booth closer to the stairs). The tables are preset with real candle lights and silverware, and the menues are one page short menus on a menu board. Very clean and no intense smells off putting a meal (at least in relation to the smells from the city, we could have been nose blind but i dont believe so) 10/10 3) appatizers: apon looking at the menu, we all got the potato appitizer, and we were not disappointed. These things are to die for. When delivered, we saw a small size pan of what appeared to be a random assortment of potato sizes and shapes, and they had a crispy appearance. We had skepticism as the price seemed not to warrent what kur eyes saw, but when the madem who delivered the plate said "warning: they are addicting," we got more curious, each taking a piece of potato via fork and realizing there was a pool of what appears to be white cheese sauce in the bottom. The fork glided into a perfectly cooked center, and the potato stayed in one piece, not splitting at all. That first bite will, in fact, get you addicted and my description will not be adequate, but i will try to get the description down. The potato had a crisp exterior light and flaky with a smooth and moist potato center. The potato was clearly coated in some spices. However, they were so light that i could not identify but sonstrong that the flavor was eye-opening, then came the sauce in the base, it was not quite cheese it was a light cream sause that had cheese similarities and had its own light spice that was almost sweet, there were green spices inside it however, they were so finely chopped i cant identify them. All i can say is that the lady who gave them to us was accurate. These are addictive and we will be coming back for more. Price: 16 usd 10/10 4) My meal: I personally got the chicken. It was described as a peppered chicken, which i grew to expect would be a potent chicken meal. It was remarkable. The chicken was crispy with light flakyness. It was easy to cut with the provided knife and fork and came with a side of the carrots and a bowl of another kind of cream sause. Admittedly, i wasn't sure if i was supposed to pour the bowl ofver the chicken or dip tbe chicken, so i chose the latter. The sause gave the chicken almost a well-made Thanksgiving gravy taste, but it was also sweeter than i had expected. The pairing was delightful, and as i continued to eat, i found that the bowl had peppercorns in the bottom. Which appeared to have been roasted to the texture of small popping flavor balls. You would expect them to be too strong when you bite into them, but the cokk on them reduced the amount of pepper you would expect of them. Making them coat your tongue with that pepper flavor and givjng this meal even more depth. Even tbe carrots themselves had a seasoning on jt and appeared to have a char grilling on some of them. It was not as wowing as what my friends had tried. However, if you are after a light spiced meal, this is still a delicious option inwould in fact reccommend Price: 31 usd 9/10 5) Conclusion: This restaurant is top teir and in my eyes the price is in fact warrented, they keep a clean cut menu and resturaunt. 10/10

I have come here every year during Anthrocon and often visited The Commoner multiple times in the short 5 days in Pittsburgh. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this place for all three meal times. (Sorry i forgot to take more pics, we were WAY too excited for our entrees after the appetizers) Breakfast is good, but this place excels with its lunch and especially dinner menu. Extremely savory and very hearty food. This is one of the very few places that make me think I’m living in a simulation because it doesn’t seem conceivable that food could be so good. This place has easily earned a spot on my list of highest recommendations in the whole city of Pittsburgh. Yeah I’m gushing a lot—this place will blow you away. Expect to spend money for yourself, this place is moderately expensive but still falls clear below fancy steakhouse prices. Ask for the manager to walk you through the menu changes and collaborations among the chefs, he’s really cool! Extremely highly recommend the iceberg wedge appetizer, burrata appetizer, maitake main course, scallops main course, cheesecake custard dessert, and especially highly recommend the Without Rum Or Raisin cocktail.

So visiting I looked up best breakfast which led us to this 4.4 out of 5 star restaurant……if I could rate it negative I would do negative 5. All the info on the menu online does not match the pitiful menu you scan. When I mention oatmeal the serve said oh we have that(it wasn’t on the new scan menu by the way). The “house made English muffins” are only weekends and for brunch. That would be helpful since that is also another staple for this place. Let’s talk about service…….I ordered coffee when we first set down and didn’t not get it until after our meal arrived. My order was simple, 4 egg white omelet style, 2 eggs over medium. I got 1 egg over medium then was told that is what I ordered after I asked where my other egg was(not I’m sorry let me get you another egg). I also ordered oatmeal and then had to ask for a spoon. My wife ordered 5 egg white omelet and 2 eggs over medium(close to same as mine) with a bagel. This horrible service, sub par food was $75. I suggest staying as far away as possible from this place. McDonalds has better service.

I visited this restaurant by a friend's recommendation and to be quite frankly I got disappointed. The restaurant is centrally located in downtown Pittsburgh and it is beautiful and nicely decorated inside but the food was not as good as I expected. The dinner menu was extremely limited. There was not variety of plates at all. I decided to order a hamburger and a starter made of potatoes and melted cheese. Both plates were extremely salty. I like salty food but this was too much. I literally had to drink water after every bite because it was really salty. Also the hamburger came in a plate without anything, literally anything aside, just the hamburger and that's it. The service was fine but definitely the downfall of this place, at least in my opinion was the food. The worst part of it is that I spent more than 60 dollars for an entree and 2 plain hamburgers without any side. Definitely a ripoff. Sorry if my experience wasn't as good as other reviews I red about this place.🤷🏻♂️

QUICK FYI - THE BEST WAY TO GET A TABLE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT BOOKING AHEAD OF TIME. We could NOT have been happier with this food. It had a stunning amount of personality to it. Tyler did a great job serving us - he was kind, accommodating, and understanding. I’ve heard that other hotels especially fancier ones like the Kimpton already have the food made and do not accommodate for preferences in meal prep (for example requesting a burger WITHOUT cheese), but this hotel does NOT follow that rule in their signature restaurant. My girlfriend was able to get mac n cheese without the breadcrumbs on top no problem. I got the roasted chicken and we ordered shoestring fries. I’ll include thoughts and details on each menu item in photo captions, but the atmosphere was beautiful.

My wife said her mocktail was the favorite she has ever had. I liked it as well. The focaccia was absolutely phenomenal and the herb butter was delicious I absolutely would love to have more of it! The burger was really good, above average, I prefer a little more crunch on my smash burgers and the onions I prefer grilled over an onion jam but overall it was really really good. The fries and garlic aioli was out of of this world, super crispy and super salty and the garlic aioli I couldn’t stop dipping them in it. My wife enjoyed her scallops as well with kombu sauce, asparagus, peas, and onion. Overall this was a great experience in a beautiful restaurant. We would love to come back and visit the bar again and enjoy more offerings for sure!
