My now husband and I decided to do a private elopement out of state and then have a reception back home in Pittsburgh for about 85 of our closest friends and family. After looking at countless venues we finally stumbled on Talia and it could not have been more perfect. The atmosphere is stunning... modern but classy and warm. we were able to rent the entire space on a Saturday night for an amazing rate. The food was absolutely phenomenal... everyone who attended commented on how delicious everything was... not your typical catered food that you get at most weddings that is dry and luke warm. Everything from the pasta to the meatballs were homemade and fresh. the rotisserie meats are roasted in house. The staff, manager and owner were nothing short of amazing. Melissa, the manager thought of everything to make the event went down without a hiccup. She even went out and purchased flowers for us!! As wedding receptions aren’t typical events they do, food tastings aren’t something they have historically done, but they treated my then fiancé and I to a wonderful night of tastings that made picking out menu so easy! The owner was so kind and professional, but also down to earth as he was there throughout the tasting and all night at the reception making sure things were going smoothly. The cocktails were amazing and very reasonably priced. All our guests couldn’t stop commenting on the quality of the food, drinks, and how beautiful the place was and how personable all of the bartenders and staff were. We couldn’t be more happy with the price, quality of service and experience. Highly recommend anyone looking for private event, or even just a night out for dinner, to...
Read moreI thought that, for the price, the food was sub-par in some ways. I got a wedge salad to start. I don't ever order this and it was my mistake because I think salads that you need to cut up yourself with a fork and knife are already wrong from the start. This wedge has some very wilted leaves on the outside. The bacon strips on there were just standard store-bought bacon, nothing special and also needed to be cut up because the strips were long (NOT PANCETTA as the menu states). The cherry tomatoes were overdone. Little chunks of gorgonzola dolce were very nice and really gave this the real flavour, as opposed to the goopy white dressing. I also got the tagliatelle with red peppers, pork belly, corn, and some poblano peppers. The pasta itself was homemade and tasty, but had been left to get stuck together and boiled that way, meaning that about half the plate of noodles was uncooked because they were too thick to get done in the boiling water properly. Also the noodles were not uniformly cut, some were the edges of the sheets that were very narrow (scraps, perhaps because it was towards the end of the evening's service). Not a big deal but for $25 they should be perfect, not giving us the scraps. The sauce for the pasta dish was really good, especially the small toasted corn and cream combination. But the peppers were too big and sliced too thick to go on your fork, and were not well cooked. The "rock shrimp" were not rock shrimp, but are large prawns. I would not recommend this place at this price; the food was OK but not fine dining. Food came quickly, service was friendly but not...
Read moreI started working downtown and I had heard good things about it and looked at the website and ended up with a loading error when I ended up where I thought the menu would be. I looked at the other options in the menu board and didn't see a menu. I walked across the street to see if I could look at a menu. A woman came over and I said that I wanted to look at a menu and she said they were close. I said that I was sorry, I should have specified that I wasn't there to eat... That I just wanted to look at a menu. That I heard really good things about the food, would like to try it soon, and recommend it to visitors who ask me for restaurant recommendations. She told me that I must have been on the wrong site. I said that I know how a website works, and no I wasn't. I asked if I could snap the menu pictures real quickly. She rolled her eyes at me. Gave me the menus and in a patronizing way, said let me show you how a website works. I said not needed and headed out. Based on that interaction alone I won't be back. I was excited to have a restaurant near that has a more European flare on hours and food, but even in France and Italy I don't get treated as dismally as she did here. Here's the menus for anyone who would like to patron Talia's for the...
