Well let me start by saying we eat here often. It's never been quite right as far as service from the beginning. However I had a n awesome conversation with the, new food and beverage manager and he is very aware of most of the previous issues and appears to be working very hard on fixing them! While in the casino last night we decided to stop in the Wheelhouse for dinner it was EXTREMELY packed, but there was a 30 minute wait we were told initially we were seated in about 35 minutes exactly! I also saw something that absolutely 100% showed me that the new food and beverage manager is truly committed to changing the environment and experience simply leading by example. As he was walking out to check progress out front with seating he obviously noticed that tables were not being cleaned fast enough. So not only did he direct the hostesses that was experiencing some down time to jump in and start cleaning but he joined in himself. He quickly whipped off his suit jacket rolled up his sleeve and proceeded to bus table with warp speed causing the young hostess to speed up and do the same. Great job leading by example sir and thank you for taking time to listen about our previous experiences, with you at the front leading by example like we really believe things will quickly turn around for this restaurant. Lastly our service at dinner was also top notch Clifford is an awesome waiter he was very observant and service oriented! Great job to the new food and beverage manager also to Clifford and Samuel for making our experience a great one from start to...
Read moreNot adding identifiable details because maybe server was having an off night, and I have heard horror stories about being an employee at this casino. Not trying to get anyone in trouble. That being said, almost every restaurant is hiring servers, find another job if you hate this one. Immediately could see server was pissed we walked in with drinks purchased in the casino. We decided to eat here on a whim, and I don't make the rules. Felt rushed to order and also felt server's annoyance when one of us just ordered a cup of soup. Rest of the tables food came out quickly but no soup for my friend. Waited at least 5 minutes, no soup, no server. Finally I got up and first person I saw with a badge, asked him to get our soup, got it right away. A few minutes later the server appeared, solely to throw the food runner under the bus. Didn't see them again til dropping the check, didn't ask if we needed separate checks. Was back in a flash "do you need more time with the check?" The place wasn't closing or anything. Exasperated with their total absence when we needed them and now them pressuring us at the end of our meal, I asked "are we your last table?" " You are but absolutely no rush..." HAHAHA. I would hate to work here and I'm sure they deal.with a lot of drunk tourist idiots. We were not 8ntoxicated or demanding, and everyone at the table was in the service industry. No excuse for how unwelcome we were made to feel. Seriously life's too short get a job you can love, or at least give your last table away. Prices reasonable...
Read moreLet’s be clear. This is not a “swanky restaurant.” It’s a restaurant in a casino. That serves bar food. And, it smells like cigarette smoke, which makes its way in from the casino. It’s not a horrible looking restaurant, but I would not consider it "swanky." The Wheelhouse is located in the Rivers casino - adjacent to the Landing Hotel - THE ONLY ENTRANCE INTO THE RESTAURANT is through the casino. Want to eat there but have kids under 18? Tough luck. You’re not getting in. You can’t walk through the casino with a minor. And there’s no other entrance from the hotel into the restaurant. Not even from the outside. Had we known that, we wouldn’t have made reservations at this very nice - but very expensive - hotel that has no restaurant. So if you plan to eat while you’re here, plan to walk, drive farther away from the hotel or order room service. Honestly, the best meal we had was at the Hard Rock Cafe across the river from The Landing hotel. I had a salmon and Ramen (yes, you read that right) salad, and hands down it was the best salad I ever had. If you want a better meal while your staying at The Landing, I would suggest going elsewhere besides...
