so in celebration of my best friends graduation we decided Applebees for drinks and dinner. I decided close to the end of dinner to walk over and ask the waitress to run my card for the whole bill. She handed me the receipt I wrote in a tip that rounded the bill to nearest dollar with intent to put cash with it if it wasn’t a decent tip on paper…the tip on paper was $7 and change. I then had in cash the remainder amount to make it a $20 tip but before I could get to my wallet she looked at the bill then asked if I had bad service (at this time my best friend is now standing with me) I said no. She then proceeded to tell me that well waitresses don’t get payed a lot so they work for there tips mainly and I said I know. and before I could say or do anything she then started to tell me that a more generous tip is usually better for future times. I at this point decide not to get aggravated as people are now looking at me I feel embarrassed and just walk away she then starts telling my best friend the same thing loud enough for me and everyone to still hear…now I’m aggravated I go outside and she then goes to my table and again explain the same thing to everyone there then to another table then over at the bar….my waitress was Kate and if Kate didn’t start lecturing me about her tip and just gave me a second she would have had more but after the embarrassment I walked out and she got a $7...
Read moreFlavorful meals at good prices. Wheelchair accessible. Family friendly. Clean dining and restroom areas. Most of the dining areas are separated from the bar. Familiar chain restaurant you are glad to have nearby. A no-brainer place to go with out-of-town friends and family. Everyone likes it, everyone can afford it, no worries, no arguments. There are of course many other restaurants of this type but I like the food here a little more than others.
I'm crazy about the salt and pepper seasoned fries. Whatever's left on my plate, it's never going to be the fries. Nicely thought out starch and vegetable selections with entrees. Very rich, savory flavors. Varied menu with all of the expected protein types. You can pretty much pick anything at random. I appreciate the published calories but they are sobering, sometimes exceeding one's daily calorie requirement. But then again it's probably the only thing you need to eat all day. No different than any other similar eatery.
There is one big negative, the fish in the Fish & Chips is utterly flavorless and extremely greasy. Even the batter on the fish is flavorless and acts just like a sponge - for fryer oil. The fall-apart fish can't even be forked up to scoop tartar sauce. Beautiful but...
Read moreWent at 5 on a Sunday so I expected it to be busy, which it was. Say about 75 - 80% full. Got a table right away for myself, then started waiting - whatever, I'll pop on their Wi-Fi and use my phone. Pretty simple to get connected, but immediately start experiencing issues when wheichver firewall service they use blocks me from using any of my dating apps. Can't check Tinder while I wait to get my drink? Really? Fine, I'll go on Facebook. See my friend post something where there is a term I'm unfamiliar with, so I Google it. 1st result comes up from Urban Dictionary, I click on it, and blocked again. Are you serious? I'm a customer and within 20 minutes I've already experienced two websites you won't allow me on because...??? Waiter finally comes over to take my order (tapping me on the shoulder in the process instead of just announcing his presence verbally - some advice is that a lot of people really don't like being touched by strangers, even if it's friendly). Give him my drink order and my food order, he comes back about 5 minutes later saying they're out of my type of booze. 3 Strikes; I won't be going back unless they lift those ridiculous bans and get some Shipyard in...
