Pizza King | Plainfield, IN — Restaurant in Plainfield

I live in California now, but grew up eating Pizza King. I read online that (thanks Yelp!) this was one of the best Pizza King's in Central Indiana and my mom and I headed over. It exceeded expectations.

Colorful paint job on the exterior and clean and tidy on the inside.

Interior has a handful of tables for dining in. Most folks seem to get delivery or take out. We dined in.

The menu has more offerings than other Pizza Kings, including fish sandwiches, fried pork tenderloin sandwiches, Broaster chicken and other dishes.

Midwest PK has a salad bar, but, I opted for a prepared Simple Salad with Honey French dressing. It was very tasty, even if a bit messy to eat , given it came packed into a Styrofoam container and I had to pour some out onto a plate to get started. It came with a breadstick.

We had an order of mozzarella sticks that were pretty tasty if you need your fried food fix.

We had a 14" cheese and marinara pizza and it was absolutely delicious. The manager told us the store has new ovens and it has only made the pizzas better – he was right. The pizza was crispy on the edges, not overly cheesy (unlike most Hoosiers, are we are not into pizzas drenched in cheese) and very tasty.

We wrapped up our meal with an Oreo cheesecake by the famed Cheesecake Lady, which was a nice treat.

Staff were extremely friendly and attentive.

The biggest disappointment was the use of Styrofoam products. I would like to see restaurants start to move past Styrofoam to products that are either biodegradable or recyclable. Styrofoam is neither. It takes 500 years to degrade in a landfill. Restaurants in Indiana have other options and need to move past this wasteful product. Get rid of it and you'll have five stars from me!

This resturaunt deserves the support of everyone with in 15 miles, minimum. This is hands down the best Pizza King operating anywhere near Hendricks County. All the amazing classics are here, but the integrity to the OG recipe, and overall quality, is evident. In addition to the classics there are a variety of other location-specific dishes to order. The chicken wings were absolute fire. The crispy outside, tender-meaty inside, and flavor packed into every bite put this on the map with the best of the best. Once you realize they they are working as a scratch kitchen, making house made sauces and brining this chicken to perfection, it all shines through in the product. Overall, as a long time Avon Pizza King fan, I have to say, it will only be Midwest PK in plainfield from now on. The train may be at the Avon location, but the FOOD QUALITY, customer service, and options are at Midwest Pizza King. If you are an OG pizza King fan, get here asap. They have everything I used to love about the OG brand, but better. The only criticism any one could have is that they are currently working to resolve AC issues in building. However, they have a comfortable temporary fix. Hoping they are getting quick resolutions, as the minor inconvenience to dining in might hinder some people, but do yourself a favor and pick it up to go if you don't like the AC issue. Bottom line, this family owned business deserves the support of the community and people who like...

Incompetent staff. Staff members are rude and not taking accountability for their mistake. Dont waste your time. Go to Avon store. I dont believe they will last. Poor service. The owner is lying in his review. Made the order over the phone to one of the incompetent staff members, when I arrived to pick my pizza up. The owner did look at it, not just a glance but he noticed the mistake. But passed the pizza to me. I looked at it, but the restaurant has poor lighting so I really couldn’t tell what was on the order. When I got home i noticed that the pizza wasnt fully done as well as they didnt make the pizza as I stated. Simple order. Half royal feast, half pepperoni and sausage. Well the half that was for my kids “pep and sausage “ had mushrooms as well. I did call, and he wants to go back and forth instead of fixing the issue. Which i feel was an insult, so I did voice my concern regarding his staff and hisself. Im glad you dont want me to patronize your restaurant, poor service, and inattentive staff. I stood at the counter for 3 mins while the owner goofy tail held a conversation on the phone. Just poor service. You got that $32 tonight. Wont spend another nickel with you. Honestly dont see restaurant lasting too long. To cheap to pay for insurance for delivery drivers, STOP cutting corners and make a real Pizza King. Or should I say your not a real Pizza King, just a knock off. Sucka! Eat a Big Royal FEAST! You know...
