Only providing a 1 start to be able to add this comment. Called the restaurant ahead of time and asked if reservations was needed. We had a group of 9 adults. I was told that we did not needed a reservation and the person on the phone asked at what time we were arriving. I notified the person on the phone we were arriving at 6:15 (it was 5:51 pm at the time of the call) The person on the phone proceeded to say great we see you when you arrive.
After arrival it was probably one of the must low grade service I have ever received at a restaurant. Mind you I suggested this restaurant to the group since several years ago it was a great place to eat with the family (I used to take my family there at least once a month when we lived here). After waiting over 30 minutes we asked the hostess if she knew how much longer the wait was. This is when the attitude of the staff first was revealed and she said I don't know.
We requested a manager who was not much help but after going back and forward with an attitude full of excuses, him and a group of employee put together some tables and we were finally seated. This is when things got really interesting. The assigned server Alicia(don't really care if I spelled her name right) started throwing the plates of chips and salsa on the table. My mother in law who was holding my 4 month daughter had to move her hand out of the way in order not to get hit with the second plate thrown on the table the server. At that point I asked my mother in law what was going on. As she started to tell us what was going on she was interrupted by the server with a sarcastic "OKAY BYEEEEEE". Needless to say we took our money somewhere else.
I don't know if the restaurant still own by the same owners but it is definitely not the same service. If you looking for high end service this place is...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I came for dinner here last night. The service was great—our waitress was attentive and friendly. I also appreciated having the manager walk around the store and ask us how the food was. However, this being said, the food was not very appetizing. I ordered the steak quesadillas al horno. The steak did not taste like steak. It tasted more like brisket and it was chopped meat. A more appetizing steak quesadilla has better quality steak in cut strips. I was very disappointed with this as I love steak quesadillas and I have had better at other restaurants. Next, rice and beans came with my order. The beans were not appetizing at all. There was way too much pepper and there were a little runny. I’m not sure if the beans came from a can but the pepper taste ruined it for me. The rice was good. Lastly, the plate was too hot when it came out. I appreciate the gesture to keep your food hot but it was just too hot. The beans were steaming almost the whole time I was eating my meal and I burned my tongue a couple of times. My boyfriend said he has had better enchiladas. I leave this review to give constructive criticism—not because I don’t like this place. I genuinely believe this place can improve its food because it has all the components. The server was very friendly as were the people that work there and the atmosphere was great. So I do believe this place can improve its food and I hope they do listen to...

The highlight of this visit was undoubtedly the food. Abuelo's offers a diverse Mexican menu with a wide range of options, and everything I sampled was delicious. The flavors were authentic, and the portions were generous. Their enchiladas and guacamole were standout items that were a hit with my colleagues as well.
One of the restaurant's strengths for a business lunch was its seating capacity. Abuelo's provides ample seating, ensuring that our group of professionals could comfortably sit and discuss business matters without feeling crowded. The ambiance was pleasant and conducive to conversation.
Furthermore, the service at Abuelo's was impressively fast. This is essential for a business lunch when time is often limited. The staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring that our orders were taken promptly and that the dishes arrived at our table in a timely manner.
Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant in Plano proved to be an excellent choice for a business lunch.
