I drove 50 minutes today to meet a former colleague so we could catch up. Traffic getting thru Dallas on a Saturday morning - you can imagine. And parking at Legacy Shops wasn't easy. But when I walked in the door at 11am and the place wasn't packed yet, I was so happy. I needed some attention. And we both got it. The decor is so beautiful, I felt very comfortable in this place immediately. The bright colors, the atmosphere, the different seating styles; take your pick. We were greeted nicely by the hostess and showed to a table but of course I picked another one, which didn't bother her at all, thank you. Our server Amanda greeted us promptly and explained the menu and made everything sound so yummy! I can't speak for the level of service when they are busy, but Amanda checked us very often, kept the food coming and made sure that we were pleased with our selections. She spoke to us, didn't rush us. We choose many dishes! and the sangria was so good - I normally am not a fan of sangria, so I chose the white and was pleasantly surprised - try it, you'll love it! You MUST try the serrano ham croquettes - an explosion of flavor in your mouth! They look like hush puppies but when you bite into them, it is soft and flavorful omgee. I loved them best of all. By the time they brought out the brunch paella (it takes a while to make), we were full and I only ate a couple of bites. We asked for doggie bags for the paella and Amanda asked if we'd like the potatoes also. We said sure, why not. We did order dessert after a bit - flan for my friend and I wanted the creme brulee. I wasn't crazy about it being served cold, I've only had it hot. It just seemed off. The manager happened to be walking by and saw that I had pushed it to the middle of the table after only a couple of bites. She asked me if I didn't like it. I said, no I didn't. She offered me something else instead, she was very kind. I appreciated her attention. I hated to leave, I could have stayed there for hours but needed to get home. Later, when I opened my bag and took out the 2 little boxes, I found 2 boxes of potatoes, no paella at all. I assume my friend received the paella. I wanted to cry! Only two bites (and we had split the $100+ bill,ha)... so in future, check your boxes before you leave a restaurant. I will have to see how I can get a paella from them way down here in Mesquite. Regardless, check out this place, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good management is...
Read moreTwo weeks ago we had an extraordinary supper here. In fact we had so much fun during this culinary adventure. We started with Potato Leek Soup that was so smooth and creamy. We couldn't believe it contained Yukon Gold potatoes because its finished texture didn't resemble any potatoes we have eaten. It had a soothing, natural sweetness, too. Then we had Albondigas, delicious pork and beef meatballs. They were the best meatballs we have had just beating out Carabbas's incredible meatballs! Then we had the Cannelloni with Catalan style ground beef and pork with bechamel and other items. We didn't like this tapa--small plate--as much. It tasted bland and needed more distinctive seasoning. We then had the Margherita Flatbread with Serrano ham. This was better than any pizza we have eaten! The crust was thin, perfectly baked, and addictive. The ham was sliced thinly with just the proper balance of saltiness. We had the Mediterranean salad last, European style. It was a refreshing combination of tomato wedges, zucchini, chickpeas, olives and croutons all smothered with lemon juice and extra virgin oil oil--the ideal culmination of a great meal. And then our wonderful server, Henry, who made this scrumptious meal so much fun, mentioned Cafe Bombon. It was layered with Espresso (decaf in our case), sweetened condensed milk, and foamed milk becoming the best after-dinner coffee we ever had. My wife shared mine and told me afterwards that she loved me, but next time she'll get her own! This was our first visit to Bulla and we'll be back with family...

From the moment you step inside, Bulla Gastrobar envelops you in its warm and inviting ambiance. The vibrant energy of the bustling dining room sets the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the tapas, each dish bursting with flavor and creativity. From the classic patatas bravas to the indulgent jamón ibérico, every bite is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs.
Accompanying these delectable small plates is a selection of drinks that is second to none. Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing sangria or a meticulously crafted cocktail, Bulla Gastrobar delivers with aplomb.
Despite the lively atmosphere, the noise levels remain manageable, allowing for easy conversation and a relaxed dining experience. It's the perfect setting for a romantic date night or a lively gathering with friends.
My only wish is that Bulla Gastrobar would someday add paella valenciana with meat to their menu, a dish that would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to their already stellar lineup.
Nevertheless, this minor quibble does little to detract from the overall excellence of Bulla Gastrobar. With its impeccable food, delightful drinks, and charming ambiance, it's a place I'll happily return to time...
