We will NOT be returning to this establishment. We have been coming here since it opened YEARS ago, but this new management has RUINED this restaurant. We were a party of 10 for a birthday. We were all on separate checks and told the server from the beginning. The server (Esmeralda) was the problem from the start. She coughed and sneezed multiple times and didn’t cover her mouth or go wash her hands. She couldn’t answer any question and was entering orders wrong. We had to correct her entering orders incorrectly. The server was placing drinks in front of the wrong person and telling us to divvy out the drinks to the correct people by tasting. She brought 1 persons food and set it in front of them but not ended up being from another table that ordered the same thing…so one 1 person got half their order about 20 mins before anyone else at our party got their food. While we waited for our food (approximately 30 mins) she never once came back over to refill drinks. When she came with the rest of our party’s orders, she handed bags of the wrong food to everyone and only realized it when another employee came over and said she was giving us someone’s to-go order. After collecting all of the wrong food from us, she grabbed more food and was still giving each person the wrong back of food. She had no idea what was what. After about 10 mins of figuring food out and getting everyone the correct food, I again had to ask for refills on drinks. One person in our party had to remind her 3 times for part of his order, which finally arrived after he finished eating everything else. She kept asking a member offing our party if he wanted another beer. He told her multiple times no, he was good, but she brought one anyway. When he said he didn’t ask for it, she said, “well, it’s open now, drink it or give it to someone else”. At that point we were just about done eating and asked for a few to-go boxes. She disappeared for about 30 mins. My son in law ended up going to the front and asked for the checks. A while went by and she didn’t come back. My husband went to the front and asked someone to have her bring us our checks. No one came. At the 1 hour mark from asking, I went to the front and asked someone to have her bring us the checks. No one came. My husband went back to the front, very irritated at this point and she finally came back. Every. Single. Check. Was. Wrong. When we told her, she couldn’t figure it out and told us to figure it out. Each person went to the front to attempt to correct out checks with a manager. We noticed that not only was a 20% gratuity added, but it was added ON TOP OF TAX. we told the manager we wanted the 20% taken off and that we would tip what we felt was satisfactory and they refused saying it’s mandatory. We told the manager to correct all the checks and remove the gratuity. He started calling someone on the phone. The server then started cleaning up the table and tried throwing trash into a big trash bin, but it ended up on the floor. She looked at me and yelled “see, o have to clean up after you and you don’t want to tip me. I gave you perfect service”. I said no ma’am, your job as a server is to take care of the table. You just threw all the his onto the floor bc you are mad. Nothing about any of your service has been good or correct. Then she began yelling at my sister in law. Read moreUpdate:I will not delete my last post because it still stands, that manager Sahara is incompetent and I hope does not work there anymore. Yesterday I went for my nieces bday dinner, her choice to go not mine, and I can say the service was AMAZING by Sam. Poor guy was literally working alone, besides the cooks in back. He answered phones and brought drinks and took orders and cleaned, etc all alone. The AC is out there so it was pretty warm, but not too bad. He gave great service and was so respectful and prompt. I will definitely go back if he is there. He is the kind of person that needs to be the manager there not the horrible lady that seems to be the main issue in all the bad reviews. Oh and of course the food was amazing, but was there ever a doubt!
If I could give negative stars I would. The food at the establishment is good.. But the staff is horrible and not worth giving your money to. We went yesterday for a birthday dinner. My daughter was turned away because we had more than 6 people in our family. Not to mention we called ahead of time, told the female who answered (Derrionne) we had 11 people, and we're told it's first come first serve, NEVER told we wouldn't be served if more than 6, AND told there's a sign on the door, a door that was propped open and sign wasn't even visible. I walked in to just ask to be seated separately, and I didn't even get to the counter before Sahara (shift manager) put her hand up and said Nope we're not doing it. Extremely ghetto and unprofessional. We were ok being seated separately, there weren't even people really in there, she was just being lazy and didn't want to serve us. And her co-workers seemed like they didn't agree, but had no choice. Again we were ok with not being seated together, but the way she spoke to us was so rude and unprofessional. I get that's probably the only place she has a sense of power, but get over yourself really. We've been to this place many times and service has gotten worse. I'll definitely make sure this establishment gets all the negative reviews possible and they know how this company allows their customers to be treated by a lazy, ghetto shift manager so badly. Do better boiling stop, you're going to lose many customers. I will say the only person who was professional and genuinely seemed like he didn't think we should be turned away was Mihkya, he seemed to be the only person with a sense of care there. 11 people turned away, instead of separating us and getting our business, during these times. Read moreI had a very negative experience here, and will not be coming back. I ordered the shrimp and crab combo ($22) to go, picked up the food and came home about 20 minutes later--I also grabbed some chicken tenders and fries for the husband. When I got home, I took out my meal out of the large paper bag. There was no shrimp in the plastic sack. Just a cluster of crab, the potatoes and corn. I double checked on the receipt that was stapled to the bag--indeed, they rang it up as a shrimp and snow crab combo, yet there is no shrimp. So, since the meal was actually not cheap, and a huge part of it was missing, we got in the car and drove back to the restaurant. It was 8:50 PM (they officially close at 9:30), and they had already switched off their "open" sign. The door was still open. We walked in, and the man at the cash register was very polite and apologetic, he told me that they would re-fire the entire order (since the chicken and crab were cold by that point). That was fine. He shouted at the cooks to prepare the meal, saying that they wouldn't have to work extra, if they didn't mess up in the first place. This was when the concerning part happened. The cooks in the back started yelling angrily, and the cash register man yelled at one of them, telling him to not say anything, just make the food. I'm guessing, they were shutting down for the night, and were upset that they had to cook some more. One of the men from the kitchen even peered around the corner, and leered at me and my husband angrily. At that point, we asked for our money back, which we received, minus the $2 tip I left there when I initially picked up the order. My husband voiced the concern that we were worried the cooks might do something to the food, since they sounded quite upset. In response, we weren't told that this wouldn't happen--we just got a nod of assent. So, at the end of the night, I was out $2 in cash, gas money to drive back to the restaurant and then back home, an hour of my time, and going home to eat noodles from the cupboard. I had previously come to the Boiling Pots at least twice, and I actually liked the flavor of their seasoning and boiled food.
