I’ve read some of the reviews about the fish shack and I really think that a lot of restaurants need more than one chance to get an honest review. I probably eaten at the fish shack over 50 times. I will admit that the size of the fish and the quantity of the items flexes overtime sometimes I get excellent, and sometimes I didn’t get the best fish piece…but that’s the way it is with most restaurants…..nothing profound there just an observation. I have eaten quite a bit of catfish that’s been fried and I prefer this place because the catfish is battered correctly, cooked correctly, and is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside which everybody wants I usually get the catfish and shrimp basket with fries ….sometimes I get coleslaw or something else, I had one person tell me one time that their fries are like country boy fries are the big thick steak fries are excellent. The shrimp is butterflied and fried and just as good as any shrimp I’ve ever had and much better than your average catfish and shrimp platter. I believe they used to come with hush puppies but sometimes they don’t. I don’t know what drives that. Anyway, I highly recommend this place. I eat there at least once a month… oh, and they do have a sculpin Ipa from Ballast Point that’s really good with fried seafood. It’s just extra step they take to have this available to enjoy with their food.

Came here on Sunday afternoon with the hubs on a hunt to find some good fish. We ordered the fried catfish and shrimp combo, with a side of hush puppies and slaw. It was so huge that we shared it (and he eats a lot). The hush puppies were AMAZING, with a great balance of sweet to salt ratio, and a perfectly soft inner texture with a crispy breading shell. The Tartar sauce was also amazing, super thick and creamy and not to mayo-y. Wasn’t a fan of this slaw, but everything else was amazing (slaw could have used a lot more dressing, it felt very dry. I also didn’t like the texture of the big chunks of vegetables). One thing I will point out is that the oil was very fresh. You could tell that they switched out the oil and everything was fried in clean oil. All the fried items were light and crispy. Best part was chatting with the cashier, who told us about all the best sellers and what everybody really loves about coming here. He was super friendly and welcoming 🩵 Price was great, too. Super affordable and you’re getting fresh sea food. Coming back soon for the Huachinango fish (fried snapper, that I heard was amaaaaaazing)

Bf and I came here for a date night as he has been here before and highly recommended it. I immediately noticed how crowded it was. Definitely a neighborhood local favorite on a Friday night, which is always a promising sign. Menu was diverse and seemed overall quite affordable. You could get many kinds of seafood cooked in practically any way you could imagine with large portion sizes. Bf got a plate with catfish and butterfly shrimp and I got a plate with cod. We split a side plate of fried okra. The okra was above average I would say, and we finished our plate of it. The fries were alright but nothing special, and I’d say the seafood was great. I enjoyed the shrimp I tried off of my bf’s plate more than the cod, but it was all cooked well and portioned generously. The sauce it came with was tangy and paired well with the seafood. Additionally, the coke I was given was absolutely massive and easily 3x what you would get for the same price elsewhere. I’d for sure recommend this place. Just be aware that it’s on the small side and parking/tables are limited!

I’m feeling really disappointed about my experience here because drove quite a distance to get crabcakes. The cashier and I were trying to work together to find out what would be the best deal but initially the main thing I came in for is crabcakes. When I received my order I ended up having shrimp and catfish and no crabcakes and then when I tried to tell, the cashier that I receive no crabcakes he tried to tell me that I never even ordered them in the first place. It was really frustrating because I feel like he wasn’t really listening to what I was saying, and instead trying to blame me for his mistake. The whole time I was looking for what to order the main thing that I wanted and I made it very clear it was crabcakes!!! He told me he knew that. I didn’t think they did a good job about amending their mistakes and said they kept trying to blame me for ordering wrong when he was the one who misunderstood. I came there for crabcakes. I kept inquiring about crabcakes so when I didn’t receive any crabcakes, I was confused. They had the opportunity to amend their mistakes instead, they didn’t. I’m customer service you have to understand how people are treated in your establishment will depend on if they decide to return. That interaction made me not want to return. I was gaslit and ended up, not even enjoying my food. I recommend not coming here because they won’t believe you when they make a mistake on your order. All for...

I grew up in the Seattle area, so I'm no stranger to excellent seafood. This, my friends, is truly excellent seafood. The dishes are simple, inexpensive, and generously portioned, and you can even grab your order to go. On top of the food being delicious, the iced tea was classic and the service is always on point. Now, this isn't a fancy restaurant where people wait on you at a table. This is the kind of place where you order in a line, wait at a table, and an employee yells your name over the chatter of other patrons to bring you your food. It's all about the food at fish shack, but the atmosphere is almost like a dive bar and it just adds to the casual charm. The first time I went I had the grilled catfish, which was buttery, a little crisp around the outside, and laid over a perfectly seasoned and cooked bed of veggies and rice. With a dish this simple, it was easy to tell that the ingredients were fresh and high quality. The same experience followed the second time I went and had the scallops. Scallops can be difficult to prepare just right, and they just absolutely knocked it out of the park! I am thrilled I found a place that's quick and casual, but also top-notch cuisine. I'll be bringing all my friends here and recommending it to anyone who loves seafood, because I loved...
