This was my first time trying Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine! Our party of 4 ordered a lot, hoping to try lots of tasty things!
Food: We got pork soup dumplings, spicy wontons, pan-fried pork buns, chicken fried rice, beef broccoli, orange chicken, chicken udon, and garlic string beans. I would give the soup dumplings a 6.5/10; the soup was a bit bland, and the filling also lacked seasoning. I've had better. I give the spicy wontons an 8.5/10; the wontons themselves were pretty flavorful, but the sauce they were in was where it's at! The pan-fried pork buns get a 6.5/10; they were slightly more flavorful than the soup dumplings, but they still lacked depth and didn't leave a lasting impression. The chicken fried rice gets a 5/10; this was definitely my least favorite item we ordered. It didn't taste like much. We asked for it spicy, and it wasn't spicy at all. It also lacked the sesame flavor that all traditional fried rice should have! The beef broccoli was great! It gets a 9/10; very tasty! The orange chicken was also really solid, 8/10; it did have some gristle pieces that weren't very appetizing, but the flavor was spot on. The chicken udon gets a 7.5/10; I wish it had a little more flavor, but it was cooked perfectly and was overall pretty good. The garlic string beans were by far the best thing we ordered, 9.5/10! They were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were great. I do wish the portion sizes for the entrees were bigger. Some of my favorite Chinese spots give out portions that are double the size of what we received and just as good food, if not better, for the same price.
Customer service: We were seated promptly, but our drinks took a while to come out (about 15 minutes for our pot of jasmine tea). We got our food in a timely manner, except they forgot our orange chicken and tried giving us our check before we had received it. For mistakes like that, I would say it would've been nice to have been compensated for the extra time we had to wait. The waiters were very attentive with refiling our drinks and taking empty plates off the table.
Overall, I had a good experience at Wu Wei Din Chinese Cuisine and would come back to try some...
Read moreMy colleagues and I visited Wu Wei Din on Saturday. This was our first time and we were excited to be there. We drove 30-45min just so that we could try their food. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing! Despite requesting a table for a party of 7, the restaurant staff failed to provide us with adequate accommodations. Upon arrival, we were given two small tables that clearly weren't suitable for our group of adults.
When we politely asked the waiter and the manger (or owner?) for a more suitable table, they callously refused, despite the restaurant being mostly empty at the time. This lack of consideration made us question if they were trying to segregate us from the rest of their customers since we were the only people of color? Weirdly, our table was located at the other side of the dinning room, all the way in the back. This experience made us feel uncomfortable and greatly affected our decision to stay. We quickly and quietly grab our stuff and walked out to drive 20min out to another restaurant.
Their excuse for not moving us to the other side of the dinning room, for a much larger table was because they were expecting to get busy, which was unacceptable excuse. A reservation should guarantee a reasonable level of service and comfort, especially when there were several larger empty tables available. The staff's unwillingness to accommodate our party left us feeling disregarded and unimportant as customers.
In addition to the disappointing seating arrangement, the overall attitude of the staff was dismissive and unprofessional. It's disheartening to see a restaurant prioritize profits over customer satisfaction and basic hospitality.
I strongly advise anyone planning to dine here with a group to reconsider their choice. A restaurant's success is built on more than just the quality of their food; it also depends on the level of service and respect they offer to their patrons. Sadly, this establishment fell far short of our expectations, and I won't be returning...
Read more(Only giving one star since I have to select a star, really I'd give it no stars at all!) It's is not good (the one in Plano), and service is HORRIBLE!!!!! I'm 8 months pregnant and I was treated HORRIBLE. I came in with my husband and my neighbor mom 10 mins before another family, put my name down on the wait list, and the other family was seated before us and they didn't even write their name down. On top of everything the older lady working the seating clearly looked at the list of people waiting. Once we were seated, I proceeded to order the last thing I ordered was a Thai boba and she clearly punched it in on her iPad. As the food came out, the rice was dry with no flavor, the soup dumplings taste like frozen and my Thai tea never came. When we received the check I saw the tea on there and told them I never received it and politely asked if they could take it off the check. So the lady brought the check to our initial waitress and literally right in front of my face, the waitress was bad talking me in her language literally yelling. Why was I being bad mouthed when they were the ones who messed up?! She just did not want to reprint the check. Mind you I was polite the whole time, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt since they were so busy. After she finished yelling, she rolled her eyes at me and said you don't want to take it to go and again even after how she beraided me, I politely said no, please just remove it from our check. When she came back with the check, she slammed it on the table in front of me and walked away. By this time, I was getting upset myself. Needless to say, you don't treat the person who is paying like that. I WILL NEVER go back to a place where the service treats people like crap and your food isn't even good. I may have higher standards for Chinese food due to having family who introduced me to what the cuisine should taste like but there's no excuse for the horrible, rude and distasteful service especially when I'm eating...
