My wife and I are FULL after our dinner here tonight!!! We got the fried calamari for an appetizer - cocktail sauce has a different zing to it and is GREAT! Our main course was us sharing the Kickin Combo Deal #3 - we opted for: 1.5lbs of snow crab legs, 2 lbs of shrimp (head ON is a must if you're serious about seafood like we are), and 1lb of crawfish. I saw some other reviewers complain about mushy shrimp - NOPE the head on shrimps we were served tonight had the perfect peel and 'snap' when you bite in! (ALWAYS opt for head-on when available for best flavor and texture!) We had the boil "kickin style" and medium for the heat - flavor was a nice balance of sweet, zing, and savory. Heat level was perfect so we could share. My wife LOVES butter with her seafood, so we asked for some and they gave us the choice of regular or garlic butter - the garlic butter was REAL garlic butter made with real cloves of garlic - VERY yummy!
Atmosphere is a good balance of chill/fun -music selections matched. LOVED their decorations (especially the metal wall art paintings of shrimps and crabs!)
Our waiter, Jim was VERY well mannered, always happy and very knowledgeable of the menu! The other employees we met were also smiling and seemed quite content as well.
Overall, DEFINITELY a place to come back to when we are in the area! Thank you, Kickin' Crab Plano for a...
Read moreI’ve visited the new Kickin’ Crab location in Plano a couple of times now. The food itself is great — the wings were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and fresh. The seafood and sides were also delicious, just like other Kickin’ Crab locations.
However, the to-go packaging and hygiene need serious improvement. On my most recent visit, I ordered cheesecake to go, and they placed it open inside the bag with no cover at all. When I asked for a box (like they gave me the first time), they said that was a “mistake” and refused to give me one. Instead, they wrapped it in plastic wrap, which is not hygienic or appropriate for a dessert.
Also, the crab legs bag wasn’t sealed properly, and my wife had to use a clip while driving just to close it. For seafood, proper sealing is important for both freshness and cleanliness. It really shouldn’t leave the restaurant like that.
Also, the prices at this Plano location are about the same as the Uptown (Highland) location, even though Plano isn’t an Uptown area. It’s actually closer to the Garland location, which offers noticeably lower prices. The higher pricing here doesn’t really make sense for this area.
Overall, the food quality is great, but the hygiene, packaging care, and pricing need improvement. With better consistency and attention to detail, this new location could easily become one...
Read moreMy friends and I have been looking for a seafood boil joint closer to home for so long! When we heard this was opening, we were so excited. The ambience is light and fun, the staff moves quickly and are so polite. When you walk in, you're hit with all smells of the spices. The fried oysters were nice and crunchy, the headless shrimp absorbed the sauce so every bite was flavorful. I highly recommend you visit this place if you're...
