The Boiling Crab — Restaurant in Plano

If I could give zero stars i would. The service is beyond slow! Our party of 3 didn't receive our food anywhere close to the same time, my brother got his shrimp almost a full 10 min before my crab came, then my husband ordered the fried catfish and it came under cooked and not trimmed correctly as the fat was still on the fish and it was slimy inside, so they waitress got the manager, even though we only asked to have more made as his was under cooked, the manager offered to make more, so fast forward 10-15 min and new fish came...still under cooked....the managers answer was "that's just how it comes". UM WHAT?! It took a ridiculous amount of time to get the check as well. The shrimp and crab tasted great but the catfish was a miss and the service was terrible.

Fast forward a month and we gave it a shot last night for a group of 10 for a birthday party. EPIC FAIL! We were faced with the same problems, horrible service, bad food and a manager that argued with customers. We ordReed crab, the menu says market price and the black board listed $22 a lb, 1 cluster of snow crab came out and when questioned we were explained that that is 1 lb, we asked to have it weighed and they refused but took the crab away. Meanwhile everyone else with the same crab had 2 clusters. The manager came out and explained the customer must have ordered 1 cluster, our answer was no as you sell it by the lb, the manager was defensive and argued back saying it is only sold by the cluster and the staff should ask how many you want. We explained we were not asked, everyone else had the same thing ordered and theirs was different and furthermore the menu stats by the pound as well. 1 order of catfish was under cooked again and was sent back as well. The manager then stated he only came over to see what happened and to have us not make a big deal of it. No apologies for the over 1 hour wait to get any food, no drinks refilled, under cooked food, and not getting what was ordered, and then arguing with customers. I could understand slow service if the place was full but when only a few tables are occupied there is no excuse.

Save yourself time, frustration, and money and go...

EDIT: 5/3/2024 this is an update to the response from the restaurant. What the restaurant said was correct, and I said nothing to the contrary. They do weigh accurately, however, they weigh the unedible portions of the lobster as well. The blue crabs are weighed accurately, but there are very little edible portions to begin with.

5/2/2024 The atmosphere is friendly, the servers are nice, but the reason I put three stars is as follows.

Simply be aware that though they charge by the pound, they serve by serving sizes. This means if you expect to get a pound of crabs legs, you will only get four crab legs in the case of a snow crab, and be charged according to the way.

If you order the lobster, it's $40 a pound at this time, however, they weigh the lobster based on the entire body. Only the claws and the tail are really edible, and my lobster came with one claw.

Their soda machine needs to be cleaned and maintained, my iced tea tasted like root beer.

The snow crabs are absolutely not worth it because the weight of the entire crab maybe 1 lb for 13 at this time, however, the total meat and a snow crab is negligible. When I say negligible, I mean, you could fill up on sunflower seeds sooner.

I believe the way that they charge their prices is a bit inflated and they play around with how they weigh and what they consider to be a pound, but nonetheless I paid for it and I'm not complaining about the price. I am only letting you, the reader, know what to expect. This place might be good if you decide to get a bag full of shrimp or crawfish, but the more expensive items is fluffed up. In short, I filled up on potatoes and...

I hate to complain and hardly leave a review but this is such a big disappointment. We walk in and quickly got seated by a server and we went to order our food thinking it will help to speed up the process.... we ordered a side of sweet potatoes fries, 4 lbs of crawfish added sausage, lemon pepper wings and dozen oyster! Then half an hour go by and nothing come out not even the oyster or the fries. We asked one of the team members to bring out whichever ready first at that point because we thought they might waiting to bring all the food out together. Few more minutes went by and another server came out asking if we have got the oyster yet then he quickly went back to kitchen once he realized we still got nothing. Then another server came out saying their computer in the back wasn't working so our orders wasnt sent... So if we did not ask about the food then we probably just sit there forever until someone realizes what's going on! We almost decided to walk out because we ran out of patience (I wish we did). The crawfish didn't get cleaned properly and contain lot of sand. It tasted like boiled crawfish with all the seasonings simply poured on top. A server came by to check on us and I had to remind him that we still waiting for our wings.... someone came out and offered us a discount but I refused because I want to freely share this experience with everyone else who planning on giving this spot a try. I don't mind waiting for the food if they are busy or short staffs but giving me unclean crawfish is just way too much. I pay for the bill and left the those crawfish on the table. Worst...
