Happy Lemon — Restaurant in Pleasant Hill

Quick and courteous service but not many positives other than that. The floors were dirty, and the interior of the shop was uncomfortably warm. They don't seem to have the AC on AT ALL. I feel for the employees who have to work in there and bear the heat for hours, which is the main reason I'm writing this review. Fix the AC or turn it on, I'm not asking that it be icy cold in there by any means, but at least set the temperature on the thermostat to make the space more comfortable for everyone. I saw many of the customers fanning themselves and/or commenting on how hot it was in there. They ended up turning on a huge industrial size fan at the back of the hallway, which didn’t really help since it was just the same hot air being blown around. Also, every other location I've ever been to serves waffles with boba pearls inside it, mixed with the batter upon request, but apparently not this location. I double-checked with the cashier when they said they didn't do that, and the only option was for me to have it in a cup on the side, at which point I declined and dropped the issue. Just an uncomfortable and disappointing...

I would have given 5 stars because we love going to Happy Lemon, but this time I'm rating it 3 stars. We ordered two drinks for Rick, the cashier even asked the name twice. We waited and waited while people who ordered after us got their drinks before us. They kept calling "order for Alvin" over and over and over for about 15 minutes, still no Alvin! So then we went up and checked the status of our order, thinking maybe they got our name wrong. Yup, they sure did! Instead of Rick they put down, you guessed it, ALVIN!!! Rick and Alvin don't even sound the same!! So the salted cheese in my drink had dissolved with the milk tea and the taro milkshake was a little bit watery by the time we finally got the drinks. They did apologize for putting the wrong name on our orders; we were hoping they'd give one of our drinks for free or make a new...

I ordered the mango boba green tea and added lychee jelly to it. It was delicious and refreshing...great for a hot day. There was a line outside due to social distancing, but it went quickly enough. (Gave me enough time to choose which drink to order.) The young man taking the orders was nice.

You have to wait for your order outside. They will shout out your name when your order is ready, but it's hard to hear. So, since we remembered who was before us in line, we knew to listen by the door when they called his order up. But to remedy this, maybe they should get a microphone and install speakers outside so that we can hear when our orders are ready. This may also help save the voice of the person shouting out the orders. 😊
